Netflix’s Ragnarok Season 3: Premiere Date, Potential Plot And More!

Get ready folks, because Netflix has finally announced the third and final season of their fantasy drama Ragnarok.

In an official announcement video on Instagram featuring prominent members of the cast, Netflix announced that Ragnarok is returning for a third and final season. Season 3 was long due since the episodes of season 2 premiered in May 2021 and ended with a massive cliffhanger.

Netflix took their own sweet time but better late than never!

Season 3 is going to be the final season, so expect a lot of drama and clashes. Here’s everything we know so far.

When is Ragnarok Season 3 Releasing?

Netflix’s fantasy series based on the Norse mythology, Ragnarok, will likely premiere its third season in mid or late 2022. Ragnarok season 3 was officially announced in November 2021 as the final season but the announcement didn’t mention a premiere date or month.

The world is now coming back to form slowly from the pandemic, so I am guessing production work will began as soon as possible. There was a gap of almost 18 months between Ragnarok season 1 and 2. We can definitely expect season 3 to drop perhaps in mid-2022, if the gap is the same.

Since the earlier two seasons had 6 episodes each, the final season will probably also have 6 episodes.

It is all speculation as of now, because Netflix has not revealed much detail apart from the announcement that season 3 is coming.

What will Ragnarok Season 3 Cast be Like?

As per where season 2 ended, many of the recurring cast members should return for season 3.

David Stakston as Magne, Jonas Strand Gravli as Laurits, Herman Tømmeraas as Fjor, Theresa Frostad Eggesbø as Saxa, Emma Bones as Gry, Henriette Steenstrup as Turid Seier and Gísli Örn Garðarsson as Vidar should all return for season 3.

By the way, in the Ragnarok season 3 announcement video, most cast members did show up but David Stakston, who plays Magne aka Thor in the show was nowhere to be seen. Maybe he was not available, or maybe it is some sort of a hint.

It is unlikely for the protagonist to be missing from the official announcement video, so if it is some sort of a hint or a clue then it would make more sense.

What to Expect From the Storyline?

I think season 3 will focus on Magne’s battle against the Jutuls. But Laurit’s lineage is also going to play an important role. I am excited to see what choices he makes – whether he will side with the gods or with the giants.

During the second season, Laurits became the bad guy aka Loki. So in season 3, we should see some more of his evil side, especially when his deeds are what is going to largely determine the final coming of Ragnarok.

It will also give us more details about the serpent that Laurits birthed, since season 2 ended with the major cliffhanger of Laurits birthing the Jormungandr snake! This snake is destined to become a major god-killing weapon.

This serpent is supposed to be Thor (or Magne’s) archenemy as well, and since David did not make an appearance in the announcement video, by joining the dots, we might assume the snake will finally be the one to kill or defeat Thor?

Since this is going to be the final season, the fate of Magne is also going to be a major part of it.
