Everything We Know About Loki Season 2

Marvel’s Loki is the talk of the town! And why will it not be? A second season is confirmed!

Loki was a huge project for the MCU, and the growing popularity of the titular character definitely contributes to the hype. I literally went on roller coaster ride for the six episodes of the Loki series.

From waiting every week for the next episode to appear, to having numerous questions unanswered, it was one hell of an experience. We met so many new variants of Loki, the mystery of the TVA was investigated – season 1 was one of the best works in the MCU in my opinion.

So of course, it is hard to contain all the excitement after the season finale so blatantly announced that Loki will be back for a second season!

1. Loki’s Second Season: What do we know?

Loki Season 2 was confirmed by Disney+ when Season 1 finale’s end credits revealed a file case marked with a stamp “Loki will return in Season 2.” So Disney+ has officially confirmed that Loki has been renewed for another season.

So who will be in it? What can we expect to see in it? I bet there are a lot of questions in every fan’s mind. I am no different.

Now Disney+ has not officially announced the cast or release date yet, but I think it is quite a given that Loki and Sylvie will return.

It is safe to expect a return of Mobius (played by Owen Wilson), Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Hunte B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku).

BTW, Majors is confirmed to be starring in Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, so it is a little dicey whether he will reprise his role in Season 2 as He Who Remains. But if he does, won’t it be earth shattering again? Fingers crossed!

2. When Will Loki Season 2 Release?

As of writing this piece, there is no official release date given by Disney+ for Loki Season 2. To be fair, Season 1 just ended so we should give them some time to sort stuff. Besides with so much on board in the MCU, it is difficult to out down a timeline.

Loki and Sylvie

Majors is confirmed to appear in Quantumania in 2023, so maybe Loki Season 2 would come out at that time around. I guess the team will begin production and shooting in early 2022 and Loki is a huge project. So considering the pandemic, dates of actors etc, it is safe to assume that Season 2 will not release before late 2022 or 2023.

3. Will There Be Multiple Seasons Of Loki?

I think of all the shows on the cards for Marvel, Loki is one with the highest potential for success and with a wide scope, so there are high chances that the show will be renewed for multiple seasons.

Season 1 is already a huge success and Disney+ renewed it for a Season 2 in no time. If things go well as it is now, there is no reason why multiple seasons will not be on cards. Let’s just hope the MCU can plan everything that’s coming up in a proper timeline.

Loki Variants

Season 1 confirms that there are several variants of Loki already. So there is a lot of scope to explore different variants and timelines. Besides, Loki and Sylvie are major characters in the universe now and the finale literally paves and sets up so many plot lines!

I would be surprised if Loki does not stay with us for a while!

4. Will Loki Continue In Dr Strange 2?

Before we see Tom Hiddleson’s Loki return in Loki Season 2, he is all set to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film is all set to release in March 2022, and it makes sense for Loki to appear in it since Loki and Sylvie are technically responsible for the creation of Marvel multiverse.

Also, Michael Waldron, the head writer of Loki, is also one of the two writers in Dr Strange 2. Though the MCU writers have not commented on Hiddleson’s appearance, from the finale it is confirmed that Loki events would play into the upcoming Marvel chapter.

The finale also made several connections with other upcoming chapters of the MCU. With Loki all set to appear in Dr Strange 2, it is only for time to decide what is up for the Marvel Universe.

5. What Does The Loki Finale Mean?

Major’s ground-breaking appearance is the bit which stood out the most in Loki finale. I mean, he single handedly broke the internet! It is safe to assume that Kang is going to be the next Marvel cross-movie villain.

According to Michael Waldron, Loki’s head writer, Major’s appearance made “so much sense” not only because he is the next big villain in the MCU but also as he is a time traveller.

Kang is all set to beat Thanos’s record for being the most badass MCU villain. During the early days of Loki Season 1, the internet thought TVA and Time Keepers will be the next big villain. Little did we know about this surprise in the finale!

As I mentioned above, the Loki finale has important consequences for the upcoming chapters of the MCU. It establishes major connections and potential plot developments.

Hawkeye is coming with a brand new generation of heroes. Also, rumors suggest multiple iterations of Peter Parker to appear in Spiderman: No Way Home. The Loki finale sets up the base for the upcoming Spiderman film quite well, and Dr Strange also has a role to play in it.

Wanda Maximoff’s return is anticipated in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. What is even more exciting is that she might come in an evil role as she holds magical powers that could help her reach Kang. Then there is Quantumania where Kang is set to appear and the huge implications that will be established with its plot.

So my point is, Kang’s appearance in the Loki finale only means that we can expect the multiverse to establish unexpected connections and split up in unexpected corners. So yes, MCU fans, get ready. There are exciting times ahead!
