SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from The Batman .

There is no cap on the sheer genius of The Batman’s post-credits scene! I absolutely loved the movie, but was a little confused with the abrupt post-credits scene that was just a green blinking question mark with the link to “www.rataalada.com.”

Little did we know that we’re in for a bigger treat than we expected! Here’s what the scene means:

The Batman post-credits scene gets fans to a real-life website where they can solve puzzles left by the Riddler.

Upon solving all the puzzles, the site will “load” and post a big reveal on March 11. It is expected to be an announcement of a sequel or TV Show.

Could this reveal really be news for a sequel, or an expansion into this new Batman universe? This post-credits scene has been months in the making and I still can’t believe the amount of effort and erudition put into a scene with a single question mark.

Read through to get all the details!

The Batman’s Post-Credit ARG Explained

1. What is www.rataalada.com?

You may remember that the website is one that Bruce accesses in the movie. “Rata alada” translates to “bat with wings,” which is also one cheeky way of describing our superhero.

The Rataalada website is one that you too can visit and has been active since The Batman trailer was released, all those months back! A few fans noticed the odd riddles and ciphers in the trailer amounted to something and found the Rataalada site.

On the site, there are more riddles in the format of an alternate reality game (ARG). Once you solve the riddles, you’re presented with a final message from the Riddler that teases fans to wait for the continuation of his story.

Perhaps the best part of this experience is that this site is constantly updating in real-time.

2. When will the website reach 100 percent?

Depending on when you finish all the puzzles and reach the last stage of the challenge, the website will land you in a page that says “Loading…” with a percentage on it. As per calculations, the site loads one percent every 100 minutes or so.

This means the Rataalada website will reach 100 percent on Friday, March 11. The timing is expected to be 18:00 UTC or 12:00 CST.

One Reddit user went above and beyond to crack the website. They found that once the site reaches 100 percent, there is one more puzzle after which we will be rewarded with a video!

They couldn’t access the video, which is a good thing because it gives us one more mystery to solve and a big surprise to look forward to this coming Friday!

3. What will the website reveal?

Most fans think that the big announcement will be a sequel. As for the villain headliner for the sequel, there are quite a few candidates.

The most obvious choice is the Joker, thanks to that scene with Barry Keoghan and another clue hidden in the website. A few other clues on the site also point to the villains Hush, Two-Face, and an Arkham Asylum storyline.

Since director Matt Reeves is also keen on making a TV series around Colin Farrell’s Penguin, the big reveal could very well be just about that!

Honestly, after watching The Batman, I have full trust in whatever Reeves releases next in this gripping universe he has created.

Answers to the ARG Puzzles

Solving the riddles on the website all on your own is a huge achievement. But it can also be quite a task. So if you find yourself stuck, follow my guide down below!

1. The Cipher

The trailer and all the promo material also have these weird-looking messages in an unknown script. (Yup, the same script the Riddler uses in the movie as well).

Over months, fans have gathered information about the script and linked each character to a letter in the alphabet.

But guess what? Only the letter J is missing and is yet to be deciphered. J for… Joker, one might deduce. Is that a coincidence? I think not.

Some of the “rewards” you will get for solving the website’s puzzles will include messages in this ciphered script. Have a look at the key below in case you’d like to decipher it on your own:

2. First Three Riddles

When you first visit the site, you will have to answer three riddles to proceed to the next step. Here are the riddles and their answers.

#1 — I am first a fraud or a trick. Or perhaps a blend of the two. That’s up to your misinterpretation.

Answer: Confusion. This is a clever one. Fraud or trick alludes to “con,” a blend of the two equals to “fusion” and lastly, misinterpretation can lead to “confusion.”

#2 — What was new, is new again. Rebirth. Restoration. Reformation.

Answer: Renewal. Other than being a synonym for the words mentioned in the riddle, it is also a reference to Thomas Wayne’s Renewal Program.

#3 — Fear he who hides behind one.

Answer: Mask. It’s easy to think this is a jab at Batman (and perhaps it is) but I think the Riddler is mocking the “noble” Gotham elite who dip their fingers into all sorts of corrupt activities.

Each riddle will also give you a mini reward that was tied in with the promo of the movie. This includes the Wayne family portrait, a Batman sketch, a Falcone poster, and the front page of Gotham Gazette.

3. The Reward

The big reward for solving all the three riddles will be a video focusing on Thomas Wayne and his campaign for being Gotham’s Mayor. To open the file, use “promise” for the password.

Thomas Wayne

The video ends with the defaced poster of Thomas with the words “The truth about Gotham” on it. During the video, there’s one frame that has the word “Hush!” on it as well. Fans think this is a hint that the villain Hush will be appearing in the next movie/TV show.

After you refresh the site, it will ask you “Do you think Thomas Wayne is a great man?” If you respond with yes, it will ask you to be wary of absolute power. If you reply with no, it will commend your stance of not trusting the rich and powerful.

4. The Batman Premiere Update

After The Batman made its silver screen debut, the website too had an update. If you’ve already solved all the riddles so far, the website will automatically take you to a page that will pretend to trace your IP address route and present a bunch of data.

If you decode the IP address in the data, it will give you the release dates of some pretty important Batman comics focusing on specific characters.

  • May 1939 — DC #27 (Batman)
  • March 1940 — Batman #1 (Catwoman and Joker)
  • December 1941 — DC #58 (Penguin)
  • October 1948 — DC #140 (The Riddler)
  • March 1987 — Batman #405 (Carmine Falcone)
  • April 1943 — Batman #16 (Alfred)
  • October 1974 — Batman #258 (Two-Face and Arkham Asylum)
  • March 4 2022 — The Batman Movie

The Batman

We’ve already met most of the characters on this list, save for the Joker and Two-Face. We’re also yet to take a deep dive into the Arkham Asylum. Is this possibly a tease for potential storylines?

After this, it will give you an option to collect yet another reward that has a ciphered message on it. Upon decoding it, it will read:

You think I’m finished but perhaps you don’t know the full truth. Every ending is a new beginning. Something is coming.”

At the very end, your screen will have a percentage on it which we’ve already gathered will reach 100 percent on March 11.

Stay tuned!
