The awaited Friends Reunion featured all six of the main cast including David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matt Le Blanc, Lisa Kudrow, and Matthew Perry.
The cast came together after 17 years to share their memories while filming and visited old sets. However, what seemed to be of concern for some fans is Matthew Perry and his health.
During the episode, Perry seemed unwell and was not in his usual spirits. He also spoke much less compared to the other five cast members. Fans have been wondering if this is because of his health.
According to a source, Matthew Perry had an emergency dental procedure on the same day as filming but still turned up for the reunion. He was in pain due to the dental procedure and hence does not seem to be in his usual spirits.
Earlier, sources suggested that Perry has been struggling with alcohol and drug addiction for several years. Perry has even claimed that he does not remember the filming of Seasons 3 to 6 of the sitcom due to his addiction issues.
Fans have been wondering whether Matthew’s health issues during filming is due to a drug relapse or if he has been addicted to alcohol again.
However, sources close to the actor denied such assumptions and said that the dental procedure and subsequent discomfort is the reason for Perry’s low spirits during the reunion.
Apart from the reunion episode, the Chandler Bing actor also seemed to be having a slurry voice in the Interview with People’s Magazine featuring all six of the cast members. Perry’s voice seemed slurry and he also seemed to doze off in between the show.
The interview was taken on the same day as the filming of the reunion episode, so it is probably the same reason why he seemed uncomfortable during the interview.
According to recent reports, Perry has also got himself tested for Covid-19, just in case. However, Matthew has confirmed to sources close to him that he is completely sober and there’s not much to worry about. The actor’s team members denied any chance of a drug relapse.
It really was heartbreaking to see Matthew Perry in low spirits and we missed his usual fun self. We wish the actor a speedy recovery.
