Fast X Cliffhanger Ending Explained: Who Died, Who Returned Revealed

Much is riding on “Fast X,” the latest installment in the massive, globally successful “Fast Saga” franchise. It’s not a continuation of the story that began with “The Fast and the Furious” more than 20 years ago or even a continuation of the events of “Fast Five” more than ten years ago.

It’s the setup for what’s promised to be the epic conclusion to one of the most successful action movie franchises ever created, which means it has a lot of work to do even before you get to the ending.

Fast X ends on a major cliffhanger, and the final moments set up what’s yet to come in Fast & Furious 11. The end of Fast X brings betrayals, death, and dangerous situations to Dom and his family. Letty and Cipher have just escaped the black site prison in Antarctica, only to be picked up by Gisele, who returns to the Fast franchise after being presumed dead.

Roman, Tej, Han, and Ramsey’s plane is shot down, Dom and Little Brian are standing on a dam in Portugal that is about to explode, Aimes is revealed to have been working with Dante all along, and Jakob sacrifices his life so that Dom can save his son. It seems like Dante has beaten Dom — for now.

What was Dante Reyes’ Plan in Fast X?

Dante wanted revenge on Dom Toretto for being a part of the heist that ultimately killed his father in Fast Five. However, he wanted to ensure Dom was left without money, freedom, and family.

It wasn’t just about threatening him or his family; he wanted to watch Dom suffer. Dante separated Dom’s family, weakening them, drained their bank accounts, paid mercenaries to go after the family and everyone who has ever worked with them, and put them all on the most-wanted list.

In short, Dante wanted to boast about winning and being many steps ahead of Dom before ending his life.

Did Jacob Die in Fast X?

Jakob sacrifices his life at the end of Fast X to ensure Dom can save Little Brian from Dante. We saw Jakob use his vehicle’s severed fuel line to set his car on fire, driving over a rail and into a group of Dante’s men, with the crash blowing up all involved.

Jakob feels it’s his moment to step up and out of Dom’s shadow, and his selfless decision allows Dom to continue protecting his son.

But it might not be over yet!

Jakob holds Dom’s cross necklace before he drives his car into the others. Fast & Furious 11 may reveal he survived the explosion somehow.

Aimes and The Agency’s Betrayal Explained

Aimes’ betrayal is layered. Aimes drops Dom and his family after they’re labeled terrorists following Dante’s attempts to bomb Rome. Aimes believes that the agency’s connection to Dom would put a target on their backs, and he couldn’t risk the agency being outed.

Aimes pretends to team up with Dom later, realizing that they were set up by Dante, only to betray him again in a twist that suggests that not everyone can become family. Aimes also turned his back on the agency because of his partnership with Dante, which began ten years before the start of Fast X.

While it’s unclear what his motives ultimately are, he probably wanted money and power.

How is Gisele Alive And Why She’s Working With Cipher

The Fast X twist, which made fans berserk, is Gisele’s return.

Yes, you heard that right! She is alive.

At the end of Fast X, Gisele appears atop a submarine, coming to rescue Cipher and Letty from prison in Antarctica. This was a huge shock considering she died at the end of 2009’s Fast & Furious, falling to her death after saving Han.

However, the franchise resurrected Han, so Gisele’s return should be no surprise. And while Fast X doesn’t provide any immediate answers surrounding her survival, it’s possible Cipher somehow rescued her in exchange for her loyalty.

This would explain why Gisele teamed up with the villain and why she’s back to help. Either way, Fast & Furious 11 will shed more light on it.

The Rock’s Luke Hobbs Explained

Fast X exceeds expectations, and all these twists are too fun to handle.

Dwayne Johnson last appeared as Luke Hobbs in The Fate of the Furious and the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. Fast X’s mid-credits scene marks his return to the franchise for the first time.

It sees Hobbs on a mission seemingly set up by Dante, who also wants revenge on Hobbs for pulling the trigger on his father, killing him on the bridge in Rio ten years ago.

Hobbs’s response to Dante isn’t one of fear; instead, he is ready for the fight. The mid-credits scene sets up Hobbs’ role in Fast & Furious 11.

How Fast X Cliffhanger sets up Fast & Furious11?

Fast X ends on a cliffhanger, with much on the line for Dom and his family. The film’s ending sees every family member in a precarious situation. Fast & Furious 11 has to answer the questions surrounding how they’ll manage to escape Dante’s clutches when he’s been ten steps ahead of them at every turn.

Fast X’s ending leaves Dom’s family unprepared and facing the fallout from Dante’s attacks, but it also introduces characters and twists that will help them defeat Dante in Fast & Furious 11. Now that Cipher and Letty have escaped prison, they could head to Dom’s location and regroup before going after Dante.

The film’s ending also teases a team-up between Hobbs and Dom, who will likely pool their resources together to battle Dante. Now that Aimes has revealed himself as a traitor, Fast X also opens it up for Mr. Nobody’s return in Fast & Furious 11.

Dante has left the team stranded, dead, in danger, and with a target on their backs by the film’s final moments. The next chapter will pay off all the storylines left hanging, including the fate of certain characters. Fast X lays the groundwork for an even more epic sequel that will probably reunite the team and leave them more vital than ever.

We know that Fast X is just one part of a story that has yet to be entirely told.

Fast X’s cliffhanger ending builds anticipation and tension, suggesting Dante has won the first round, but there’s more to come. The film’s cliffhanger puts the main characters in the lowest place possible, facing uncertainty and death in a defeat that is rarely this big.

Fast X’s cliffhanger also marks the beginning of the franchise’s end, which has been going strong for over 20 years.
