Set Photos from Fast & Furious X Reveal a Surprising Return

New set photos from the upcoming tenth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X, have been released, featuring the return of the film series’ iconic character Queenie, with Helen Mirren reprising her role.

The 2023 film will bring back many familiar names of the franchise, including Vin Diesel, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, and Jordana Brewster.

The new additions to the cast include Brie Larson, Jason Momoa, and Rita Moreno. Momoa will play an unnamed villain, Larson will play an unidentified character, and Moreno will fill the role of Dominic Torreto’s grandmother.

The plot details for the film have not reached the public’s ears yet. But fans are assuming that the story will allow the return of Charlize Theron’s villainous character Cipher after the actress revealed a photo confirming the character’s return.

The film, directed by Louis Leterrier, will be the first of a two-part series finale, bringing the long run of the &And Furious franchise to an end.

Helen Mirren’s Magdalene Shaw, a.k.a. Queenie, had first been introduced to fans in Fate of the Furious (2017), after which she continued her story in the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw and made an appearance in last year’s F9.

In the set photos released by DigitalSpy, the actress makes her return beside Vin Diesel’s Dominic, and the pair seems quite close, with affection shining through the images.

After Mirren’s involvement in the 2021 Fast & Furious film F9, fans are hoping for a more important plotline dedicated to the beloved character’s return. Despite being the mother of the franchise’s two greatest antagonists, Mirren’s Queenie had only played a small role in F9, and viewers are ready to see that change.

Like in the previous movie, where Diesel’s Dominic had sought Queenie’s help to find his brother Jakob (John Cena), it seems like that dynamic will be repeated in the upcoming tenth film.

Since Fast X is a part of the final goodbye to the beloved film series, fans can expect some surprising callbacks and many reunions.

Queenie’s other son Deckard Shaw had also come back for a post-credits scene in F9, so the possibilities of this reunion are even higher. With production and casting underway, fans can expect to see more familiar faces being added to the last celebration of this iconic street-racing action franchise.
