Henry Cavill Is Back As Geralt In The Witcher S2’s Teaser Trailer!

Toss a coin to your witcher for he is finally back! Netflix has released a teaser trailer for The Witcher Season 2 featuring Geralt of Rivia played by Henry Cavill. Fair warning: Don’t blink!

This is not the first time we’ve been surprised with a 12-second teaser filled with frames moving too quickly to understand. Earlier in June, Netflix Geeked released an equally brief teaser revealing first looks of Ciri, the crown princess of Cintra.

After the revelation of possessing magical powers, Ciri begins on the path of fulfilling her destiny, one that is tied to Geralt even before she was born. In teaser #1 that focuses on her, we see a few indications of what lies ahead for the princess of Cintra.

For one, teaser #1 confirms Ciri’s arrival at Kaer Morhen. The impermeable mountain fortress is where we will also meet Geralt’s mentor Vesemir, and perhaps other witchers of the School of Wolf that are known to train there.

As fans already know, Ciri goes on to become a very skilled swordsman. The teaser with cut frames of daggers and swords, reveals that this is where her arduous journey starts.

Cavill’s Geralt-focused teaser #2 is even more cryptic than the first one before. We are delighted to see the character back on screen, along with catching more glimpses of Kaer Morhen, corpses, a dagger and (if we’re not mistaken) the mangled sound of Jaskier singing.

Not to forget – there are also quick snapshots of runes, which Netflix Geeked challenged fans to translate if they’d like to know more about the upcoming season.

While Season 1 established The Witcher’s world with our three protagonists in separate points of time, Season 2 will converge their stories together for the greater good.

We do know there is one nagging question: where is Yennefer?

Yennefer, who Geralt presumed is dead, is absent from all teasers. Since we know Anya Chalotra is signed on for Season 2 and has been seen filming, there is no doubt about Yennefer making it out of Sodden Hill. Her reappearance on the show may be one of Season 2’s big reveals.

However, following the pattern of having character-focused trailers, fans are desperately hoping that Yennefer’s is the one to be released next.

If it doesn’t come to fruition, we still have plenty of exclusive sneak-peeks to look forward to! In July, Netflix and CD Projekt Red will be hosting the Special WitcherCon event that will release never-been-seen-before material for both the show and the video game.

Might we also expect a trailer that is longer than 12-seconds? We’ll hold our breaths.

The Witcher Season 2 is expected sometime in the remainder of 2021, but no official date out yet.
