New set images from the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff movie, Madame Web, provide an exclusive first look at Adam Scott’s mystery character. The photos might hint that Scott is playing a prominent superhero in the film.
Madame Web is slated to be Sony’s fifth movie in their Spider-Man Universe. After the success of their Spider-Man movies, Sony is seeking to expand its shared universe. Sony has announced several new feature films based on characters from the Marvel comics.
Sony is committed to expanding their Spider-verse, which began with films like Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius. Subsequently, they have announced multiple spinoffs, including Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter, and El Muerto.
Madame Web is set to star Dakota Johnson in the lead, though details about her role have not been revealed. Apart from Johnson, the film will star Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott. Plot and character details have been kept under wraps until new images hinted at potential plot lines.

Scott’s outfit reminds strongly of the get-up of various incarnations of Peter Parker in Sony’s SpiderVerse. So, there might be a chance that Adam Scott is playing Spider-Man in the film.
Though the theory is based entirely on speculation, there is still a chance that Scott will be playing Spidey as it will be challenging to span out Madame Web’s origin story without Spider-Man.
Previously, pictures from the set hinted that the film is set in the 2000s, implying that the film is a part of Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy universe. Many expected Toby Maguire to return as the superhero.
However, Maguire’s appearance in the film could lead to legal issues with Disney+ or Marvel, so Sony might be taking this opportunity to introduce a new Spider-Man in the universe. We can expect further details if more photos from the set surface.
Madame Web will release in theaters on October 6, 2023.
