In a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Saget’s family announced,

We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today. He was everything to us, and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter. Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.

Saget was best known for his role as Danny Tanner on ABC’s Full House, which ran for eight seasons from 1987 through 1995, to which he returned to in Netflix’s 2016 reboot, Fuller House.

Besides Full House, fans might remember Saget’s iconic line, “That, kids, is the true story of how I met your mother aunt Robin,” from HIMYM, where he voiced the older version of Ted Mosby, and AFV, Dirty Work, among other gems.

Bob had been touring the country since September, with his shows lined up well until June 2022. The comedian was in Jacksonville on Saturday for a show at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. He had also been busy with his new podcast series titled Bob Saget’s Here for You.

Saget’s long-time friend John Stamos tweeted that he was “broken” and “gutted.” Various friends and fans of the actor stormed in to express their grief.

HIMYM’s Josh Radnor, who played the younger version of Ted Mosby, wrote a series of tweets expressing his gratitude towards his close friend.

Radnor called Saget the “older wiser ‘me’ for nine years” and added, “There are people who leave the earth and you’re haunted by all the things you didn’t tell them, all the love that was unexpressed. Luckily that wasn’t the case with Bob. We adored each other and we told each other.”

Saget’s voice alone was enough to convey such strong emotions that it could even make a grown man cry or make one laugh till they had tears in their eyes.
