New Photos from the MonsterVerse Spinoff Reveal Setting

New set photos have emerged from the sets of the Apple TV+ Godzilla spinoff series, indicating a major update on the show’s setting.

The untitled Godzilla/MonsterVerse show has currently begun filming in Vancouver, Canada, and the set photos released have confirmed that the shoot is located at a military base with military officers in the images, too.

While the actors’ faces cannot be discerned clearly in the images, these set photos open up the possibility of a more significant role played by the military in the upcoming spinoff.

The show has added Ren Watabe, Elisa Lasowski, Kiersey Clemmons, Anna Sawai, and Joe Tippett to its cast list. The only storyline already out for the public is that the show will revolve around a family unveiling the secret link between the Titans and Monarch, an organization that has played a role in all the MonsterVerse projects.

It is not yet clear if the spinoff series follows the story after the events of Godzilla (2014) or the upcoming 2024 sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong, coming out on March 15. The organization Monarch was already introduced in Kong: Skull Island and further mentioned in Godzilla: King of Monsters, along with their origins and goals.

It can be logically assumed that the Godzilla series will dive into the organization and connect it to the monsters we have known and feared.

According to Twitter user Janice Rafael’s recent Twitter posts, the filming location was at a military base, with an Oakland Fire Department Car also visible in one of the shots. The actors are surrounded by military officers, indicating some sort of military intervention.

Since most details have been kept hush-hush, these images signify that the military will get involved somehow, which could translate into a possible Titan showing up, too. Or we can also presume that the military officers are under Monarch’s payroll and have been sent to deter the protagonist’s mission.

The military’s presence has always been a part of the MonsterVerse franchise. From Aaron Taylor Johnson’s Navy Officer in the 2014 film Godzilla’s protagonist to Samuel L. Jackson’s Lieutenant Packard in Kong: Skull Island, we have already seen the military playing a role in previous projects, so it’s no surprise to see them in the Godzilla show.

Looks like the connection between Monarch, the military, and the monsters is set to be explored in the upcoming Godzilla spinoff series. Can’t wait to watch it!
