Dave Bautista Says ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ Could See Drax’s End

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 could probably see the end of Drax, according to actor Dave Bautista. Although the heavyweight’s original claim to fame can be credited to his days as a WWE champion, he has become quite well-known for playing the Marvel character in recent years. Bautista has since been featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as two Avengers movies.

He is also set to make his return as Drax the Destroyer in the upcoming installment of the Guardians series. But the movie could potentially be his last in the franchise.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, the actor addressed his character’s future. Bautista noted that he had seen a script of the movie years ago, and it has likely gone through drastic changes, which could hint Vol. 3 will probably see the end of Drax’s time.

Furthermore, he also revealed that the upcoming movie completes all his obligations with Marvel thus far. Check out his statement here:

“I don’t know what the script of the third film is, to be honest with you. There was a script years ago that obviously is going to have to change because the whole direction of the Marvel universe has changed. But other than that, no. I mean, as far as my obligations, I’ve got Guardians 3, and that’s probably going to be the end of Drax.”

Back in April of last year, director James Gunn took to his Instagram story and teased a character’s death in Guardians 3. (via imgur.com) Now given Bautista’s statement, it seems that could be none other than Drax.

Moreover, Gunn also revealed on Twitter recently that he plans on the upcoming movie being his last in the sub-franchise. Thus, it seems likely that Vol. 3 might be the final outing for the team.

Even if the studios bring in a new director to take over, it won’t be the same without Gunn and Bautista, both being very important to the series’ success. However, this is not the end for them.

Bautista is set to play a key role in Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Army of the Dead, and Gunn is awaiting the release of his The Suicide Squad. So, they might be done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but their respective futures continue to be flourishing.
