HBO Is Apparently Developing 3 More GOT Spinoffs

HBO has revealed it is currently developing three new spinoff series that will serve as prequels to television phenomenon, Game of Thrones. Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R.R. Martin, the show ended in 2019, but the network has been eager to bring back the world of Westeros to the screens again.

HBO originally started discussions about the spinoff series back in May 2017 when five ideas were being considered. The network previously announced three spinoffs in the works.

One of them is Tales of Dunk & Egg, based on the novellas of the same name. Set almost 90 years before Game of Thrones, Tales of Dunk & Egg will follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire “Egg”, who would later become King Aegon V Targaryen.

Another animated series is in development that will imitate the original’s tone, but content-wise, not much has been revealed yet. Next in line is House of the Dragon, a House Targaryen focused prequel series. The show will be set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will follow the story of the powerful house’s conquering of Westeros.

9 Voyages or Sea Snakes will be based on Lord Corlys Velaryon, who was nicknamed the Sea Snake, and his life aboard his ship. The husband of Rhaenys Targaryen, he had amassed a lot of wealth, even more than the Lannisters and the largest navy in all of Westeros.

Flea Bottom will be set in the hovels of King’s Landing, and 10,000 Ships will follow the fabled Princess Nymeria, who travels with the Rhoynar to Dorne and is wed to Lord Mors Martell.

With six series in various phases of development, the franchise is finally adapting more and more fictional content from the novels to television. Over many separate series with converging plotlines, Martin has created a fictional universe so big that even an on-screen adaptation cannot feature all the details.

However, with HBO finally seeing the potential in expanding the franchise, the GOT universe is about to be rejuvenated again.
