HBO Max and The CW to Team up for More Original Shows

HBO Max and The CW are planning to partner up to produce more television series in the future. The streaming service and the cable network have recently paired up for a Walker reboot, starring Jared Padalecki, and are also producing the upcoming superhero show, Superman & Lois. Not many details are available regarding the team up, but the goal is to expand the audience for both platforms.

The decision comes after it was announced that every Warner Bros. movie getting a theatrical release in 2021 will also premiere on HBO Max. The arrangement was tested with Wonder Woman 1984 and was massively successful—it led to HBO Max’s subscriber count seeing a significant rise. The upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong, Dune, and The Suicide Squad will all be released on HBO Max in 2021.

According to reports by several news agencies, the deal between HBO Max and The CW provides that shows would premiere on HBO Max and then air the next day on the cable network. A similar deal was made between the DC Universe app and The CW, where Stargirl premiered last year and was very well received by the fans.

The CW has recently renewed some of its long-running shows like The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow for new seasons. Partnering up with HBO Max might give it a boost in production value, which will always come in handy since some of the biggest shows on the network are superhero dramas. On the other hand, HBO Max will get the desired goal for an expanded audience.
