Head Writer Says Loki S1 Will Be Standalone And Tell A Complete Story

Premiering on Wednesday, June 9, Loki is the next Marvel Studios series to arrive on Disney+. It will introduce the Time Variance Authority (TVA), Agent Mobius M. Mobius, and Judge Ravonna Renslayer. The series lays down rules that govern the multiverse.

Murphey’s Multiverse’s Charles Murphy got a chance to ask head writer Michael Waldron if he could say anything on the rumors of a potential second season. Waldron said that the upcoming season will tell a complete story.

It was really always my hope and intention with this to tell a complete story with this season. Season 1 would stand on its own, and, you know, is there more story to tell in the future? I don’t know, time will tell.

Waldron also teased the potential of a Secret Wars connection. Even if they don’t move forward with Loki, there is always a chance that they explore another Variant of a popular Marvel character. They can continue building upon the TVA aspect now that they are opening up the rest of the multiverse.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll be the end of Loki’s journey, as shows often get renewed due to popular demand.

Based on the critics’ tweets, so far, the early reviews have had only positive things to say about the series premiere:

  • Review 1
  • Review 2
  • Review 3
  • Review 4

One tweet confirmed [] that the runtimes of Loki’s first two episodes are the two longest initial episodes in the MCU. With Episode 1 and Episode 2 being 51 and 54 minutes long, respectively.

The excitement for Loki just keeps on increasing. With Marvel dropping various teasers ahead of its release, fans have been having a field day, trying to spot easter eggs and making theories based on those snippets.

A teaser that dropped on Sunday caught fans’ attention. In the clip, a TVA file for Loki is seen with their sex is listed as “fluid.” Though Loki being gender fluid is a canon in the comics, it’s never been explored in the MCU until now.

Needless to say, this has raised expectations even further, and fans can rest assured that they won’t be disappointed.
