Venom 2 Has A Coincidental Easter Egg About The Matrix 4

Venom: Let There Be Carnage had to get creative when they realized they wouldn’t be able to utilize San Francisco’s location as they had envisioned.

If you’ve watched the Venom sequel in theatres, you must’ve spotted helicopters in the background when Eddie Brock and Venom are on top of the Coit Tower.

It is assumed that they’re with the police search team, but it turns out the helicopters couldn’t be bothered less by which symbiote runs rogue as they were focused on some red and blue pill business instead.

That’s right, the helicopters seen in the sequel were actually part of the upcoming Matrix film.

This happened because The Matrix Resurrections had taken over the city by the time Venom 2 arrived for filming, and hence the team had to get creative and work around it.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Venom 2’s location manager Christopher Kusiak talked about how this lead to some issues while filming.

Lots of stuff impacted filming. A lot of our driving shots went away because Matrix controlled all of downtown… We ended up moving a stunt up onto the top of the parking garage because we couldn’t get to the areas we wanted because of The Matrix. But if we would’ve been there first, it probably would’ve gone the other way. The helicopters were actually on the Matrix movie. The Matrix was filming at the same time, so we were catching part of their activity on camera.

According to the Screen Rant article, The Matrix 4 paid the SFPD $420,371.63 over 21 days of shooting to help manage the public during their stunts as compared to Venom 2’s $192,422.58.

Even so, Venom 2 managed to make the best out of this situation, and one could say it worked in their favor. The sequel earned an estimated $90.1 million at the North American box office during its opening week, with its total being the biggest in the pandemic era.

If Venom: Let There Be Carnage is already breaking the pandemic’s hold over theatres, it’ll be a spectacle to watch how The Matrix performs at the box office.

The Matrix Resurrections is set for a theatrical release on December 22, 2021.

About Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Andy Serkis. A sequel to 2018’s Venom, it is based on the Marvel Character of the same name. Tom Hardy will be reprising his role as journalist Eddie Brock/ Venom and newcomer Woody Harrelson will play psychotic serial killer Cletus Kasady/ Carnage, in the second installment. Further cast includes Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Naomie Harris.

Venom ended with the symbiote destroying Carlton Drake, the symbiote Riot, and the Life Foundation’s spaceship. Thus  the world was saved. In a mid-credits scene, Brock was invited to interview incarcerated serial killer Cletus Kasady, who promised “carnage” when he escaped. This was Woody Harrelson’s Carnage reference.

Now, the trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage teased the appearance of another symbiote Toxin through his host, Patrick Mulligan.
