Henry Cavill Tweets about Hamstring Injury on The Witcher S2

It seems like the great Geralt of Rivia is not immune to injuries. With a tweet, Henry Cavill confirmed reports of a hamstring injury that he received while filming the second season of Netflix’s The Witcher. He is currently in the UK on a break from shooting and is expected to return soon to the sets of the massive hit series.

The Witcher debuted on Netflix in 2019. The TV show is based on the fantasy novel series of the same name by Andrezj Sapkowski. It follows the lives of three different characters, Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), which converge in the finale of the first season.

The series had become very popular upon its release and although some criticized it for straying from the novels, the majority are eagerly waiting for the second season. However, the production has been delayed multiple times throughout 2020. At first, the production was halted because of the pandemic. When it resumed, several crew members tested positive, which caused a delay again.

Cavill’s injury happened when the actor was performing a stunt while wearing a harness on an assault course. Although he returned to the UK, production has been continuing without him. Moreover, the actor informs that he is recuperating and will be fit soon to go back to work.
