Billions S05 E09 Ends With An Unprecedented Trio Ready To Take Down Axe

Throughout the series, we’ve seen Chuck, Axe, Wendy, Taylor, and plenty others gaining new power/positions and money, while building up their legacies.

But just as it always happens, sometimes you have got to pause in a race and wonder if your hunger for power will ever be satisfied, and if so, at what cost? Well, it looks like Axe’s time is up and he’s going to pay for everything he did to get to where he is.

After causing Mike Prince’s ‘downfall,’ Axe also backstabs Taylor. One can only have so many trump cards before he runs out of luck, but not Axe! He gets away each time.

Episode 9 saw an unprecedented trio unite with the aim of destroying the indestructible man. After their first failed attempt, Chuck and Prince seem baffled when Axe ends up having the upper hand again.

At the end of the episode, we see Prince and Chuck thinking about ways to bring down Axe. This is where Axe’s backstabbing will affect him as Taylor walks into Chuck’s office, and asks them both, “How are we taking down Bobby Axelrod?”

Now that the trio is out to get Axe, he better watch out. Taylor knows that if need be, they can use Wendy to initiate and escalate the conflict. As Prince points out earlier in the episode, Axe acts on emotions and will go to any extent to reach his goals without caring about anything else.

So the trio’s whole plan of action is to ‘bait’ Axe and catch him at a weak point. If anyone can take down Bobby, it’s these three. But if they end up failing, everyone should just pack up and leave as it would basically make Axe the ‘last man standing.’
