DC League of Super Pets is now running in theaters and we are loving it. After a group of domestic animals gains magical superpowers, they aid in defeating Lulu the guinea pig, who kidnapped the Justice League.
The film is narrated by the pets of DC superheroes, led by Superman’s dog Krypto and the boxer, Ace. But what’s interesting is how these super-pets end up gaining superpowers. Now that is a fun incident, and it all happened by chance.
The animals in DC League of Super-Pets gain superpowers through a piece of kryptonite, which Lulu the guinea pig managed to sneak in from Lex Luther. Unbeknownst to Lulu, the piece gives superpowers to all the other pets.
In the film, Krypto and Superman spot their archenemy, Lex Luthor in an animal shelter reeling in a meteorite strapped with orange kryptonite. He intended to gain superpowers with the help of the kryptonite.
However, Superman and Krypto, aided by the Justice League, easily defeats Lex Luthor. However, the animals in the animal shelter weren’t really done with the kryptonite. During the fight, Lulu, a guinea pig tested by Luthor, managed to reel in a piece of the kryptonite with her own tractor beam.
Naturally, the piece of kryptonite gives her superpowers. But little did she realize that along with her, the kryptonite gave superpowers to all the other animals in the animal shelter.
Ace becomes super-strong and indestructible, PB the potbellied pig gains the power to shrink and grow in size at will, Merton the turtle becomes superfast and swift, and Chip the squirrel gains the power of electrokinesis.
Krypto, Superman’s loyal canine dog, however, already had superpowers. He gained his powers due to the presence of the yellow sun in kryptonite, as described in the original comics. In the film, he loses his powers for a while because he ate a piece of cheese laced with green kryptonite. However, he gains them back later.
So, every pet in the film gets its powers from the piece of orange kryptonite.

Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Diego Luna, Natasha Lyonne, John Krasinski, and Keanu Reeves joined the film’s voice cast, which was released on July 29, 2022.
