Peaky Blinders Series Ending Sets the Stage for the Film

The Peaky Blinders series finale ends with a big bang and sets the stage for the upcoming film. The 80-minute episode was packed with action and drama and quite seamlessly gave closure to all major characters of the series.

However, as you already know, a few notable characters had little to no screen time in the finale. This means that their story is still unfinished and might be further developed in the film. Before I go forward, here’s a spoiler warning if you haven’t watched the episode.

In the end, Tommy realizes he doesn’t have tuberculoma, and it was merely a lie fabricated by his doctor because Mosley and Diana ordered it. They did so because they knew that if anyone could kill Thomas Shelby, it was Thomas Shelby himself.

So, how does this ending set the stage for the film?

The Peaky Blinders movie could be about Tommy going after his fascistic foe Oswald Mosley. Creator Steven Knight said the film would be set during World War II, which means Thomas would try to bring an end to Mosley and Diana’s fascistic movement.

We see the couple only for a brief period in the final episode. In it, Mosley invites Thomas to their wedding and threatens to kill him if he even looks at Diana after their marriage.

One of the key pieces of information revealed was that Mosley and Diana would get married in Germany, where the Fuhrer would be present. In fact, we later see how the Fuhrer, aka Adolf Hitler, was the best man.

While the film is still under development, we know that Arthur and Thomas Shelby will be a part of it. Since the news about the movie broke out, people have been wildly speculating what the premise would be.

Considering, the film will serve as the conclusion to this saga, people are saying that it would be the biggest showdown Tommy has been seen in. Oswald Mosley remains undefeated, but the film could also portray the Nazi leader, Hitler, and our protagonist would have to fight the two villains.

If you turn back time and look at the real-life events, you’ll see that Mosley and Diana had been rallying support for Germany in the UK. They even wanted Churchill to get on their side. However, the latter disagreed and charged into war against the Nazis after imprisoning the infamous couple.

The movie might not follow the same story since Steven Knight is known to put his own stylistic spin on true stories. Whatever the film might be, I can’t wait to know more about it and prep myself for the epic tale that will come on the big screens.
