Jason Sudeikis Confirms Episode Count For Ted Lasso Season 3

Ted Lasso Season 2 is in its final weeks. So, naturally, the anticipation for the upcoming season is through the roof as fans wonder if the next one will really be a farewell to the show they have grown to love so much.

The Apple TV+ series won big at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, where the cast and creators later went backstage to talk about Season 3 and what’s to come.

As reported by Deadline, Ted Lasso co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis shared that the next season will consist of 12 episodes.

They, being Apple, asked for 12 episodes—and this time, ahead of time. So, we’ll be doing 12 episodes as of now.

Ted Lasso Season 1 consisted of 10 episodes, and the number went up to 12 for the second season with a varying length of 30 to 40 minutes.

Sudeikis has repeatedly mentioned that he plans to end the series after Season 3. While talking to EW, when asked whether the show’s success had changed his mind, he said,

It’s called the iMoney truck. I mean, I don’t know. The story that I know is the one that I wanted to tell, and so that’s the one we’re telling with the help of numerous people in front of and behind the camera, so it’s by no means me typing every key stroke and saying every word. It’s nowhere near like that. But the story that’s being told – that three-season arc – is one that I see, know, and understood. I’m glad that they are willing to pay for those three seasons. As far as what happens after that, who knows? I don’t know.

Well, all good things much come to an end before they devise their own unfortunate demise. Many brilliant shows, including Fleabag, and Dark, have followed the same strategy, and hence their ‘perfect stories’ can’t be marred by unnecessarily milking them.

Season 3 does not have an official premiere date yet. However, based on the previous seasons’ release dates, it wouldn’t be too far off to predict the third one might drop around mid-2022.
