Gotham Knights S1 Trailer Features Gotham City’s New Superheroes

The CW has released the latest official trailer for Gotham Knights season 1, which will premiere on March 14. While the Arrowverse is slowly ending, the CW still has a few DC shows planned for this year.

For their latest entry, the CW is launching Gotham Knights, which is created by the same crew of writers/producers who did Batwoman.

A few hours back, the latest trailer of Gotham Knights season 1 was launched, focusing on Batman’s death and the mystery surrounding Gotham City.

The DC drama will be airing right after Superman and Lois season 3, starting on March 14 as a part of The CW’s Super Tuesdays.

Before discussing this further, watch the trailer below:

That was an intense one-minute watch, for sure! Let’s dive into the analysis!

Gotham Knight centers around the mysterious death of Batman, and his adopted son, Turner Hayes, gets accused of it.

However, he is not the only one accused. The offspring of all enemies of Batman are called for questioning. Joker’s daughter, Duela, gets a special reference in the trailer. She is one of the prime suspects in the murder because of Joker’s history with the Caped Crusader.

However, things start getting convoluted once Harvey Dent asks her whether she is genuinely Joker’s offspring. This is where we realize that Batman’s murder isn’t the only mystery in the series.

Eventually, Turner pulls off a Nick Fury and assembles all the offspring to become the new heroes of Gotham City and solve the murder mystery. However, it is easier said than done as they are also the most-wanted fugitives.

Despite hiding their identity, the mission is far from a cakewalk. In the footage, we encounter several violent assassins trying to kill them. Whether they are canon DC heroes or newly introduced characters remains to be seen, but they are connected to Batman’s murder for sure.

Will Gotham Knights survive the Nexstar/DC crisis?

Batman is Dead

DC/Arrowverse TV shows have been canceled left, right, and center since Nexstar acquired 75% of the CW. Shows like Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and Stargirl have all been scrapped off. Even new shows such as Naomi got canceled after running for just one season.

It seems like Nexstar is looking to change the entire platform demographic. Only time will tell what it means for the future of Gotham Knights.
