Hulu’s Hardy Boys series has been renewed for a season 2. Based on the mystery adventure novels of the same name, first published in 1927, penned by Edward Stratemeyer, the show is the latest television adaptation for the present generation.
After the first season’s debut in December 2020 captured fans’ interest, the show quickly became a hit on the streamer. Now, Variety has reported that the series will be returning for a second run slated to premiere sometime in 2022.
Producers Nelvana and Lambour Productions have greenlit season 2, which has been picked up again by Hulu. Filming is set to begin in Toronto and South Ontario later this month.
Nelvana President Pam Westman provided the following statement about the upcoming season:
“It’s no mystery that ‘The Hardy Boys’ has captured audiences of all ages around the world. We are excited to work with Lambur, Hulu, and Corus again on a new high-stakes case for the Hardy Boys gang, as they race against the clock to uncover the truth of a mysterious disappearance.”

Since its publication in 1927, the novel series has been adapted many times in various forms of media. As of now, Stratemeyer’s original IP has gone through five television adaptations, with Nelvana also serving as the producer for the 1995 version that aired for a short amount of time.
Using the pen name of Franklin W. Dixon, Stratemeyer wrote over 1300 novels, including the famous Nancy Drew series, which too has been adapted as many times. His novels have sold millions of copies worldwide, establishing him as a prolific writer, and so it’s no surprise that his IPs continue to be adapted to this day.
The second season will see the return of Rohan Campbell and Alexander Elliot for their respective roles of Frank and Joe Hardy and will reportedly pick up from the first season’s events. Other cast members coming back include Adam Swain, Atticus Mitchell, Janet Porter, and Keana Lyn.
