If you’re one of those fans who just cannot get enough of all things Marvel, then get ready for yet another TV show to keep you entertained and hooked. The adorable Groot will be returning to Disney+ in a show of his own. Yes, we’ve got all the details!
I Am Groot is a Marvel animated series that will debut on Disney+ on August 10. It will consist of five shorts, following baby Groot’s childhood in space.
In the bigger scheme of things, the TV show won’t have any connections to the current Marvel saga or timeline. But if you have a soft spot for Groot, or want to see some more of the Guardians of the Galaxy lore explored, this is guaranteed to be a fun watch!
The show sits comfortably between the release of Thor 4 and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Here are some other important details for your perusal.
The Plot
As per the official description, the show will be about baby Groot and all the different adventures he goes on in space, meeting all kinds of unique and unusual characters. Some of these characters may be new to the audience as well.
So far, no trailers for the show have been released. But with a little less than three weeks to go, we might get one soon!
On the bright side, the first episode titled “Magnum Opus” was released at the El Capitan Theatre, before select screenings of Thor: Love and Thunder. I won’t spoil the plot for you, but just know that you will be welcomed by the familiar face of Rocket Raccoon.
James Gunn has commented that the TV series may not be directly linked to any of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, but nonetheless, are “canon to themselves.”
Release Date
I am Groot will release on Disney+ on August 10. It will have five “shorts,” that is five independent episodes that may not follow a chronological order.
Unlike other Marvel Disney+ shows, the shorts will not have a weekly release schedule. All five shorts will be released on the same day. You hear that? It’s time to binge-watch!

Cast and Characters
Both Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper will reprise their roles as Groot and Rocket. Drax the Destroyer is also set to appear in one of the episodes, but the voice actor has not been confirmed. No other characters or actors have been announced.
About I Am Groot
I Am Groot is an upcoming Marvel animated television series created for the streaming service Disney+. Developed as a series of short films, it will follow Groot’s adventures as a baby and feature his home, Planet X.
The photorealistic animated series will be produced by Marvel Studios, directed by Kirsten Lepore. Vin Diesel will reprise his role to voice baby Groot.
