In a very surprising turn of events, Netflix has announced that Nickelodeon’s popular teen sitcom, iCarly, is coming to Netflix. The show will arrive on the streaming service on February 8th, 2021. However, not all the seasons will be available to stream. Only the first two seasons, which consists of 45 episodes, have been picked up by Netflix.
iCarly is one of the many shows created by Dan Schneider for Nickelodeon. It revolves around three school students, Carly Shay, Sam Puckett, and Freddie Benson, who found fame when their school talent show audition becomes very popular on the internet. It debuted on the network in 2007 and had a successful six-season run, which ended in 2012.
The show aired during Nickelodeon’s golden era and is one of its most famous shows. Naturally, after the iCarly ended, most fans requested for the show to appear on America’s most popular network. However, Viacom, which owns Nickelodeon, did not want to get in business with Netflix and thus, most of the network’s shows were unavailable on Netflix.
In fact, Netflix picked up the first two seasons of the show to promote the launch of iCarly’s reboot that was ordered recently. The reboot will feature the original cast and is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+.
If you want to stream all six seasons of iCarly, you will need a subscription to Nick Hits or CBS All Access.
