Nate Finds True Love in Euphoria Season 2

Nate and Maddy were one of the most famous couples not only in the show but even amongst fans of Euphoria. Their relationship symbolized toxicity, and just like most people in toxic relationships, even those two couldn’t let go of each other, despite the cheating, the violence, the power game, and whatnot.

But in Euphoria season 2, things are changing for Nate if not for Maddy. Nate seems to have found someone who could probably bring out a better side than what we saw in Euphoria season 1.

This person’s Cassie, and she is Maddy’s best friend. How did this happen, and is Cassie just one of Nate’s cheat partners, or has he truly fallen in love with her? Well, why don’t you find out?

Nate seems to be truly in love with Cassie, and it is not the toxic, possessive, and violent kind. After being beaten up by Fez, Nate realizes this through a dream sequence while in the hospital, where he imagines a life with Cassie.

It all begins when Cassie is sitting drunk outside a store. Nate, by chance, stumbles upon her there and offers her a ride to the New Year’s Party, where everyone is present. As circumstances would have it, Nate hooks up with Cassie in the washroom, but the two decide not to tell each other’s partners, Maddy and McKay.

Now, Cassie’s mindset, as we saw, wasn’t in the best place. She just aborted her and McKay’s baby in the season 1 finale, and she doesn’t feel like she is worthy of being anyone’s partner. That is pretty much why she ends up drunk and outside a store. While in the car with Nate, something comes over her, and the two end up in the restroom hooking up.

On the other hand, Nate doesn’t seem to give it any thought at all. He knew that Maddy and he weren’t exactly the best partners so, his conscience was unfazed. In fact, he didn’t seem to be bothered by anything at all, and Nate was just being his usual self. A hookup that he doesn’t have to tell anyone about. That was his mindset.

However, after Fez beat him, right from the time he was being taken to the hospital till he recovered, all he could think of was Cassie. He remembered how he was in the back seat holding Cassie’s hand and then had dreamt of her too.

In the dream, the two seem to be enjoying each other’s company, having sex, having a baby together, and even living together in a house.

After he wakes up and recovers a little, the two still hook up, and he tells her that he has to stop seeing her because he really loves her. Now, that might sound like an escape, but Nate doesn’t like who he is or rather who his father made him (as narrated by Rue).

However, even this ends with the two having sex where he tells Cassie how much he loves her and how much power she has over him.

As Rue narrates, Nate realizes that Cassie was his true love because she would bring out the better side in him. Perhaps even the best side. His relationship with Maddy was too toxic, making him a worse person. Furthermore, Cassie is someone who is naive, and although she’s had her history, she really does give relationships importance, unlike Maddy, for whom it was more of a power game.

So I guess when all things are said and done, Nate truly loves Cassie. At least for now. What I want to see is how it all unfolds when Maddy finds out. Whether he goes back to Maddy or decides to break the cycle and try to be a better person and a better partner?
