2. What Is Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard About?

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is essentially a sequel to The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as Michael Bryce from the first film.

But unfortunately, reviews seem to be quite disappointing. I guess several Reynolds fans were looking forward to the film, but The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard has not been upto the mark according to the critics.

Personally, I have not seen the film yet, but it does not excite me as much as the first film because the tropes seem very repetitive. But well, it is unfair to give a judgement without watching it, so you could definitely give it a chance if you want to.

But if you do trust reviews and don’t want to regret your first visit to the theatres after a long time (considering the pandemic kept us home), then think again!

4. How To Watch The Films?

I would recommend you watch The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017) first. If action comedy is your type of thing, you’re a Ryan Reynolds fan or simply want to watch some fun stuff with packed action, this is a good bet.

Watch the second film aka The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard after this. It’s simply the logic you’d use for watching Home Alone 1 before Home Alone 2. Simply because the release order says so.

But that does not mean you can’t watch The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard if you’ve not watched it’s prequel. You can and it won’t interfere if your understanding of the films, but it’s better to watch the first one before.

A piece of free advice though: Don’t raise your expectations too high after watching The Hitman’s Bodyguard, as the sequel does not seem to be as much as a fan favourite as the first one.
