Jake is able to quickly befriend Pandora’s native people, the Na’vi and falls in love with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). In the end of the first film, Jake decides to take the help of the Tree of Souls to transform permanently into his Na’vi avatar.

The upcoming sequel will take up the story from there, and Worthington and Saldana will be reprising their roles as Jake and Neytiri respectively. As per the recent images, Jake and Neytiri have started their own Na’vi family, after the events of Avatar.

The Empire unveiled a new image from Avatar 2 that introduces us to Jake and Neytiri’s Na’vi children or the new generation of the Na’vis.

Jake and Neytiri’s family includes both biological and adopted children. Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton) and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss) are their biological children, while Kiri (Sigourney Weaver) is their adopted teenage daughter.

Moreover, there’s also Spider (Jack Champion), a human orphan who was adopted by Jake and Neytiri after he was stranded on the island of Pandora and rescued by them.

Avatar 2 has been in the making for over a decade now. It was delayed a couple of times due to the Covid-19 pandemic as well. So, it is natural for the plot to also accommodate this large passage of time since the events of the first film.

Avatar: The Way of Water begins when Jake and Neytiri are already settled as a family. The new image gives us the best glimpse of the Na’vi family so far. Going by the images, Avatar 2 will focus a lot on the theme of family and emotions.

Avatar: The Way of Water will release in theaters on December 6, 2022.
