James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel to Film from Home amidst COVID Spike

Late-night talk shows have been hampered again due to the coronavirus crisis in Los Angeles, California. NBC’s The Tonight Show, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Real Time with Bill Maher and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, all based in Los Angeles, have had to shift filming locations from studios back to their homes, amid a spike in coronavirus cases.

Ever since November 2020, Los Angeles has seen a sudden rise in coronavirus cases. Hospital occupancy has reached its limits and reports suggest that many celebrities have also tested positive for the virus. For a safer work environment, studios have requested production teams to work remotely.

During the first few months of the lockdown, all shows were being filmed from the hosts’ residences, without a live audience. It was only in August-September that production had moved back to studios, though a live audience was still not allowed. James Corden’s show and Jimmy Kimmel announced the move with a tweet.

Both hosts have an impressive list of guests, who are scheduled to appear on their shows in the new year, including Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Jim Parsons.

It remains to be seen when the shows can resume filming in the studios. For now, the hosts will be interviewing their guests through virtual platforms.
