Is Ted Lasso Season 4 Happening? Jason Sudeikis Spills the Beans

We are all preparing to bid farewell to Ted Lasso after season 3, but is there a chance of him returning?

Jason Sudeikis, the actor behind the charming coach, has opened up about the possibility of a comeback. The show gave us a satisfying conclusion for Ted and his team, as they said goodbye to A.F.C Richmond, and all character arcs were wrapped up with care.

Like many TV shows, Ted Lasso’s season 3 left some loose ends that could lead to a possible revival with season 4.

Similarly, Ted Lasso’s talented cast, crew, and creators have faced many speculations and inquiries about the show’s chances of returning for another round.

However, no one has been more grilled than the mastermind, writer, and star of Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis, who has shared his views on whether the show will continue after this week’s finale.

Sudeikis was quizzed on the show’s future at Ted Lasso season 3 launch event in early March. When pressed if Ted Lasso season 3 would be the last, Sudeikis had this to say:

I mean, there’s always Cameo, right? This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering. Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore; we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.

The response clearly shows that Ted Lasso was always planned to be three seasons long. From the start of the show’s creation, Sudeikis and his team have had a vision with a definite ending, something which is uncommon for current TV shows.

With Ted Lasso season 3, episode 12, Sudeikis and the rest of the team have finally delivered that vision. While expressing his gratitude to the fans for wanting more than three seasons, Sudeikis urged them to watch season 3 first because he was sure it has the closure everyone expects from the show’s finale.

Sudeikis was also grilled on a possible season 4 after his Emmy victory for his portrayal of the main character in September 2022. Sudeikis’ answer to Ted Lasso season 4 queries was as follows:

I don’t know, it’s up to more factors than myself. The response has been overwhelming. We have a tremendous group of writers, actors, people in production and post-production, all of those thrown in the jambalaya of possibility. I couldn’t say yes or no. I know this part of the show is what it’s supposed to be. I apologize for not giving you a direct answer because that’s more helpful for headlines. If I knew, I wouldn’t tell you.

Here, Sudeikis didn’t rule out a fourth season of Ted Lasso, but he didn’t confirm it either. He said it’s not up to him alone to decide the show’s fate while praising the fantastic team of actors and crew members who made Ted Lasso a hit.

Finally, the actor confessed that he had no clue if Ted Lasso season 4 would happen and would keep it a secret even if he did.

Once again, Sudeikis faced many questions from the media at the Ted Lasso season 3 launch. One of them was E! News, who also wanted to know if there was a chance for Ted Lasso season 4 to happen. This was what he said:

I think we have a talented enough writing staff, an incredible cast, tremendous production, and a post-production crew. They definitely have the ability, and there’s plenty of water left in that sponge to squeeze out. All I know is that the story we wanted to tell and the one that we’re telling that’s what we’re here tonight to celebrate. What happens beyond this, I won’t know until this is all done.

These words are arguably the most hopeful Sudeikis has said about Ted Lasso season 4.

As the star noted, he trusts the crew behind the show to deliver a possible sequel thanks to their incredible skills in every aspect. This is clearly shown by the show so far, with the cast, crew, writers, and directors demonstrating they know how to deal with these characters and their stories.

Sudeikis also confessed that he and his partners in crime might consider Ted Lasso season 4 after concluding season 3. He said that he doesn’t want to spoil the surprise and mess up the finale they envisioned from the start.

However, he also implied that there’s still a lot of scope for the characters to develop and mature after season 3. Will they team up and produce another season for the audience? We’ll have to stay tuned.
