‘JL’ Images Show an Updated Darkseid & The Team Planning

New images from Zack Snyder’s Justice League reveal the big bad Darkseid’s updated look and show the superheroes creating a battle plan.

The wait for Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been a long one for fans. Joss Whedon was hired in 2017 to finish Justice League following Snyder’s withdrawal, but the completed output proved to be a critical and financial setback. After an uproar from fans and support from the Justice League stars, Warner Bros. officially greenlit The Snyder Cut, to be released on HBO Max on March 18.

During the course of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign, it was disclosed how much was actually cut from Snyder’s initial vision. Joss Whedon completely eliminated characters like Martian Manhunter and Iris West from the movie. The biggest alarm was that Darkseid was supposed to participate in Justice League, observing the tease in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

There has been a lot of marketing for The Snyder Cut in the last few months, which has given new peeks at Granny Goodness, DeSaad, and Darkseid’s homeworld. Now there is an even promising glance at the Lord of Apokolips. Two new illustrations from Justice League have been published from Total Film (via Heroic Hollywood).

The images give a more distinct look at Darkseid and a still of the Justice League, sans Superman, formulating a battle plan.

One of the substantial objections to the theatrical cut of Justice League was its runtime. At only two hours, Whedon’s version of the film cut out various characters’ backstories that would have enabled audiences to relate with the heroes satisfactorily.

With The Snyder Cut being twice the original’s duration, there will be a surplus of time to solidify each character before their big team-up in the image above. Furthermore, the four-hour runtime will permit Snyder to properly expand the team’s plan versus just hurrying to the final face-off against Steppenwolf.

These illustrations may not contain many clues outside of what has already been disclosed. However, they do deliver one of the cleanest peeks at Darkseid yet. This portrait of the villain looks much stronger than it did in the first Snyder Cut trailer, which is a good sign, as the CGI in 2017’s Justice League was a point of criticism. Warner Bros. will likely provide new footage and images until the movie’s release next week.
