Peacemaker is set to debut on HBO Max in January 2022. Teasers are slowly starting to roll in, including this picture of John Cena looking absolutely shredded.
The image was released on Peacemaker’s official Instagram account, with the caption “3 words: dope as fxck”—and we’re not going to argue with that. With Cena’s back to us, his arm punching the air shows off his ripped body, thunderous shoulders, triceps, and all.
On its own, the image doesn’t reveal much. But it does remind us of Gunn’s tone in The Suicide Squad, which everyone seemed to enjoy. Cena had also previously mentioned how Peacemaker’s “tighty-whiteys” tickled Gunn’s bones, and the director has made sure to include more of that in the show.
Along with also making Cena dance… now that’s something to look forward to!
While there will be equal parts of gore and dark humor, Peacemaker’s plot is supposed to be more grounded, taking place after the events of The Suicide Squad.
It will follow the making of Peacemaker as the douchey version of Captain America—where peace prevails before all, and no action is too violent to achieve it.
Earlier this month, the show also released a first image of the other cast members: Steve Agee as John, Danielle Brooks as Leota, Robert Patrick as Auggie, Jennifer Holland as Emilia, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, and Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn.
The gang is seen sitting in a shabby office, possibly talking about a mission on hand. I’m most excited to see how this bunch comes together in the first place!
HBO Max also released a video snippet from Peacemaker (montaged with other shows) as part of their preview for upcoming releases. Have a look:
Once again, none of the teasers reveal the show’s true premise. However, it does promise a lot of entertaining moments ahead.
We may not have to wait too long for more concrete trailers, as DC’s FanDome is about to take place on October 16. The Peacemaker panel will be a big part of this event and is sure to reveal more!
