David Ramsey Assures Fans that Justice U Updates are Coming

David Ramsey, who plays the role of John Digger in the popular Arrowverse franchise, assures fans that updates about his upcoming Justice U spin-off show will be coming soon.

The CW canceled various shows from the Arrowverse this year, leading to the franchise suffering a major blow. However, DC TV continues to be a part of The CW.

The network will broadcast the final season of The Flash in 2023, followed by Superman and Lois season 3. Another DC TV drama, Gotham Knights, will also premiere on The CW next year, though it is not a part of the Arrowverse.

Now, there’s good news about a new DC TV show that has been in development since January 2022. The series is a new Arroverse spin-off series, titled Justice U, starring David Ramsey as John Digger.

A fan recently asked the Digger actor on Instagram during his birthday celebrations whether there is any new update about the upcoming spin-off series. The last update about the series came from Ramsey himself in October, who mentioned that the project is taking up a new writer.

Even though Ramsey did not share any specific news, he assured his fans that good things are happening and updates about Justice U will be coming soon. He replied to the fan’s comment under his post with the following-

Happy bday sir! Any news on Justice U? It’s been a rough couple of months for DC fans after all the cancellations..

I know, and thank you everyone for sticking with us. The smoke is clearing. Can’t be specific just yet but good stuff is in the works.

Though David Ramsey’s comment assures fans for now, it is not clear what update he is talking about. While it can be something big, it can also be something as trivial as a pilot order. Justice U never went beyond the stages of development in The CW since it was announced by the network.

The upcoming spin-off will focus on Digger’s mission to hire five meta-humans to live in disguise as freshmen at a reputed university. Since the pilot season is here, it is possible that the show will be moving toward the pilot stage, but it is still very uncertain.

The future of the Arrowverse franchise has been under question ever since Nexstar bought 75% of its rights from Paramount Pictures and WarnerMedia.

The Arrowverse

The CW has already canceled shows such as Legends of Tomorrow, Batgirl and Stargirl. Now that The Flash will be coming to an end in 2023 with season 9, we can almost consider the Arrowverse gone. Superman and Lois is the only remaining show from the Arrowverse at this point.

There’s also the idea that James Gunn and Peter Safran are taking control of DC TV, films and comics as of now, and The CW is not keen on being a part of their plans. Therefore, the future of Justice U seems dicey.

The most we can expect right now is Justice U landing a pilot order and filming for a while. The series will reportedly be directed by Ramsey himself. However, a filming schedule does not guarantee that the series will see the light or be telecasted beyond the pilot. After all, The CW did not hesitate to discard Painkiller, the Black-Lightning spin-off, after the pilot.

All in all, the future of the Arrowverse seems bleak with the way things currently stand. Only time will tell whether things will improve in the future or not.
