Star Trek 4 Is in Developing Stages, Shares Lead Actor Karl Urban

A little respite for Star Trek fans: The fourth installment is currently in development.

In an interview with Radio X on March 18, Karl Urban, who’s also currently seen in The Boys, shared that Star Trek 4 is in the making.

The Dr. Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy actor said that the movie is “happening” even though he has heard the same thing for the past three years. However, like the rest of the cast, he is enthusiastic about returning to the cult franchise.

The Boys actor believes that the “logistics” and “timings” are the only things proving to be a hurdle.

I have heard that [Star Trek 4] is happening, but I’ve been hearing that for the last three years. [Laughs]. Listen, all I know is that they’re developing it, they’re writing a script, and I know 100% that we all wanna come back and do it, so I think it’s just a matter of timing and logistics at this point… Where there’s a will there’s a way, and there’s definitely a will, so we would love to come back together and make one of those.

The exciting update is a light at the end of a tunnel for fans.

Star Trek is undoubtedly an American cult classic and is a media franchise that spans decades of content—from TV shows and films to spinoffs and video games.

The fourth installment is a part of the reboot trilogy that many believed to have ended after the third movie, Star Trek Beyond, in 2016.

However, there were multiple reports of the fourth installment for a few years.

Considering now that Star Trek 4 is definitely happening (maybe in 2023), audiences can expect the main cast, such as Chris Pine for Kirk, Zoe Saldaña for Lieutenant Uhura, Zachary Quinto for Commander Spock, and more to return.

Meanwhile, Urban will be back on screen soon in The Boys Season 3 as the antagonist Billy Butcher with an upgraded, messy avatar on June 3, 2022.

About Star Trek

Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise originating from the 1960s television series Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry. That series, now often known as “The Original Series“, debuted on September 8, 1966, and aired for three seasons on NBC.

In creating Star Trek, Roddenberry was inspired by C. S. Forester’s Horatio Hornblower series of novels, Jonathan Swift‘s 1726 novel Gulliver’s Travels, the 1956 film Forbidden Planet, and television westerns such as Wagon Train.

The Star Trek canon includes the Original Series, nine spin-off television series, and a film franchise; further adaptations also exist in several media.
