Kathryn Hahn Discusses How Agatha Harkness Could Return To The MCU

Disney+ WandaVision is a nine-episode limited series, which marked the beginning of MCU’s Phase 4. While WandaVision seemed like it reached its definitive ending with an action-packed finale, it left the futures of some of its characters inconclusive.

Unlike most antagonists in superhero films and series, WandaVision’s White Vision and Agatha Harkness were both left alive, leaving the possibility of future MCU appearances open. Agatha was last seen when Wanda left her enchanted and under a spell, binding her into the very fitting character of Agnes, the ‘nosy neighbor.’

In a recent interview, actress Kathryn Hahn talked to Gold Derby about her iTunes hit earworm ‘Agatha All Along,’ switching through different eras in the show, keeping the secret of her character’s identity and revealing her future at the MCU.

“Of course I would be willing to come back. I’ve heard nothing… I know Jac and everybody was very clear that this was going to be a one-and-done situation. And the season finale was ‘The Season Finale,’ which I think was so brilliant, and I was so satisfied with it as a whole.

If I were to ever come back, there’s so many aspects of her that I think are fascinating. She touches in so many different worlds throughout the comics. You know, she’s a centuries-old witch and has seen a lot… and there’s a lot of different people and beings that she’s crossed paths with over the last couple of centuries, so that would be a blast to explore.”

Agatha sort of becomes Wanda’s teacher, though it is unintentional as she wants Chaos Magic to herself. Harkness plays an important role in unleashing Wanda’s true potential as The Scarlet Witch. In the final moments, Agatha warns Wanda that she might need help to control her magic before Wanda enchants her. Wanda says if that were ever to happen, she knows where to find her.

Agatha has a rich comic book history. Her character was first introduced in Fantastic Four #94 in January 1970. It’s only a matter of time before Agatha returns to the MCU, and even though she killed sparky (which is, quite frankly, unforgivable), it would be interesting to see where her character goes.

Agatha Harkness can manipulate dimensions in the comics, and she can put things, even cities, into other dimensions. Who knows, maybe Agatha might get a cameo or even just an honorary mention in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It would be fitting as she is the one who tells Wanda that she is stronger than the Sorcerer Supreme.

Hahn portrayed the disastrous witch perfectly, and we wouldn’t want anybody else to play everyone’s favorite nosy neighbor.
