Kevin Feige Reveals Kang’s Mission for Scott Lang in Ant-Man 3

Ant-Man 3 is due in theaters in a month, and Kevin Feige just spoiled a major plot point for the upcoming film. Even with how tight-lipped the MCU is about its stories before premiere night, we can almost guarantee that Langs & Pyms will be the catalyst to Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

In an interview with Empire, the Marvel Studios head disclosed how Jonathan Major’s villain is so much different from other antagonists, stating he’s “warring” with his different variants.

He is the obvious choice when dealing with the Multiverse. Kang allowed us to do a new kind of Big Bad. He’s a different type of villain, warring amongst themselves as much as he’s warring with our heroes.

The MCU mastermind also shared an image of Kang in his Time Chair and explained how Ant-Man 3 will portray him as a “powerful person” who is in “the position where he needs to get that power back.”

Kang’s a very powerful person, but when we meet him, he’s in a position where he needs to get that power back. He has a ship and a device that would allow him to go anywhere and anywhen he wants if he can get it online. If only he had access to genius scientists with Pym particles.

Feige’s statement outlines two points we’ll be reiterating if only to spell out a theory that is most likely the real story. First, Kang’s Time Chair, the “device” refereed by Feige, enables him to land in any time and place in the multiverse to “alter timelines” and “erase existences,” as Janet van Dyne previously pointed out.

But as speculated with the two trailers that Marvel released so far, Kang needs Scott’s help to fix his ship and device. And Feige’s statement has answered how the Langs and Pyms will help Kang in his mission, which brings us to our second point.

The genius scientists refer to the Pyms and Cassie Lang, and of course, they’d have access to the Pym particles – the very object Scott used to stabilize time traveling in Avengers: Endgame. So, if Kang successfully gets our heroes to fix his Time Chair with the Pym particles, he can travel “anywhere and anytime” in the multiverse.

The two aforementioned facts translate into Scott Lang and his companions fast-tracking the doom that He Who Remains promised and his variants would bring to the multiverse. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will thus serve as the precursor to Avengers: Kang Dynasty’s events.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release in theaters worldwide on February 17, 2023.
