Kevin Feige Reveals MCU’s Upcoming Shows to be Testing Grounds for Characters

Marvel’s head Kevin Feige has recently confirmed in an interview with a media outlet that they will be using TV series to test characters, before they feature in the films. Marvel has sure planned at least five to six years ahead of their current announcements, so we know that there is a lot of cool stuff to look forward to.

According to Feige, introducing new characters on TV first will allow them have enough time to breathe before the big screen. “It really does come down to the story and to having the opportunity with a She-Hulk, with a Ms. Marvel in particular, to spend more time introducing a character before we see them in a feature,” Feige said.

Feige was never really involved in the TV series side of the MCU before. So when it was revealed that Marvel has signed with Disney+ for a number of TV series directly under Drive, it raised some eyebrows.

Turns out, it was a move to warm the characters towards the audience so that the viewers know a bit of their stories before they make a debut in the feature films.

And while some of the series are just meant to tell the stories of the characters that have already been introduced into MCU films (like WandaVision, and the upcoming series like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki, and Hawkeye), other titles will act as the debut for characters like Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight, into the MCU.

As of now, though, WandaVision is the only Marvel project currently airing on Disney+ Hotstar. Since it has been released, WandaVision has been receiving appreciation from both the viewers and critics. In the first few days of its premiere, it became MCU’s highest-scoring title on Rotten Tomatoes, which is certainly something.

Using TV series to introduce characters is an exciting move by Marvel. If anything, Feige’s comment points towards a very bright future of the MCU.
