Wanda Maximoff is MCU Phase 4’s “Jewel in the Crown,” Teases Marvel Producer

For everyone who was disheartened after the stuff that happened to Elisabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it’s time to cheer up.

Marvel Studios’ producer Richie Palmer hinted that the Scarlet Witch’s story is far from over. He mentioned that despite Doctor Strange 2 being the anchor of Phase 4, Scarlet Witch is no less a crucial part of the bigger story.

The producer talked about the Scarlet Witch In the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness audio commentary, reported Screenrant.

“If Doctor Strange is the anchor of the MCU of Phase 4, then Wanda Maximoff is the jewel in the crown.”

For one of the main Marvel people to tease the future of a supposed dead character, one can build high hopes that Wanda Maximoff will be returning to the MCU.

MCU’s Phase 3 ended with an epic physical and emotional battle in Avengers: Endgame. With more and more key characters out—remember, the world has neither Iron Man nor Captain America anymore—Phase 4 is branching out with stories of other characters.

Olsen’s Wanda/Scarlet Witch has been a fan favorite despite regularly being sidelined.

Things changed when Disney+’s WandaVision dropped, making everyone realize how immensely powerful the Witch is. It later settled the debate on the strongest MCU character in Doctor Strange 2.

In a past interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Olsen revealed that she believes going back is only fun when “there is a good story to tell.”

“My whole thing without having like these big picture deals… is that as long as—and this is what happened with WandaVision—as long as there’s a good story to tell, I’ll be there.”

Olsen even talked about the Scarlet Witch’s portrayal in the comics and mentioned that she would like to play her with silver hair and prosthetics.

“In the comics, her power kind of deteriorates her and ages her in a way in some of the comics. I do think of that as being kind of amazing. I kind of imagined myself one day with like prosthetics and silver hair and like playing her as this, like older wise woman and so I do have this kind of this dream of aging her quite a bit.”

Meanwhile, with Marvel expanding its MCU database with countless TV series and animations, one can hope for a solo Scarlet Witch movie too.

Fans can now at least heave a sigh of relief, knowing that Doctor Strange 2 wasn’t Wanda’s end and that Marvel might give her the limelight she deserves in the future.
