Landau Teases That Avatar 3 & 4 Will Explore New Pandoran Cultures

Jon Landau, the producer of Avatar: The Way of Water has revealed his plans for the next two installments of the franchise. They will dive deep into the new Na’avi culture and explore new places of Pandora.

During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Landau revealed that the land of Pandora and its yet-to-explore avenues would be the focus of Avatar 3 and 4.

The franchise’s first installment introduced us to the planet of Pandora and the Na’avi clan, with Jake Sully learning about the culture.

The beauty of raw nature is portrayed in all its entirety in the first movie. It seems like James Cameron took inspiration from nature itself while constructing Pandora.

The upcoming film, Avatar: The Way of Water will show us more about the various lifeforms of the planet, especially a water based Na’avi clan that has evolved itself to adapt to the environment.

It will also show the different parts of Pandora and their connection with Eywa.

Jon Landau talks about the diversity that each new installment will bring and how they will be analogous to actual locations on Earth.

Jon Landau: What I’m excited about as we move on in the sequels [is that] each sequel will take us to new places. Each sequel will introduce us to new cultures and new clans of Na’vi. And to me that’s exciting because it allows us to reflect on our world. Throughout the process, we want to continue with this idea of connectivity on Pandora; that we are all connected, whether it’s through Eywa or other ways. And to remind people here that we are connected and that our actions have an impact on people around us and the world around us.

The story of the Sully family will continue in the franchise’s future installments. In every new installment, the family will meet a new clan and experience life in a unique ecosystem in Pandora.

The creators have shown the majestic Pandora in its entirety, but there are still many nooks and corners left untouched. Since they talk about basing Pandora on Earth, there could be dessert, jungle, tundra, and other flora and fauna still left to be explored.

It will be interesting to see how different clans adapt to the other conditions and how they communicate with Eywa. In Avatar: The Way of Water, we see the light-blue colored clan with fin-like projections and limbs, making it easier to navigate in water.

Like Avatar 1, Avatar: The Way of Water also has an undertone of nature conservation and awareness. The entire franchise is all about the resonance between life and nature.

Cameron made 800 pages’ worth of notes about Pandora and the events between Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water. So, there are ample possibilities for exploration for the Sully family in the heart of the unique planet Pandora.
