Lebron James and Don Cheadle Explain ‘Space Jam 2’ Plot

In a recent video, actors LeBron James, Don Cheadle, and Cedric Joe explain their upcoming movie Space Jam 2 in less than 24 seconds.

Basketball sensation Michael Jordan crossed over to movie stardom, with help from the Looney Tunes in 1996’s original Space Jam. James will now follow in Jordan’s steps by leading up Space Jam: A New Legacy.

It turns out, the “New Legacy” in the Space Jam sequel title is not just a relation to James taking over the beloved movie franchise from Jordan. The sequel’s story revolves around James saving his tech-obsessed son Dom played by Cedric Joe, from an evil AI, played by Cheadle.

James’ journey watches him being sucked into a “server-verse” made up of famous Warner Bros. properties with which James somehow interacts. It was teased that Looney Tunes character Lola Bunny, who gets a slightly debatable makeover in the new movie, is found living with the Amazons from Wonder Woman.

There’s no hiding that all these current disclosures about server-verses, evil AIs, and visits to multiple other Warner Bros. movies make Space Jam 2 appear more than a little startling plot-wise. A tweet was made recently where the actors explain the movie in 24 seconds (the NBA shot clock’s length).

Entertainment Weekly

Given the confidential nature of today’s blockbuster culture, James, Cheadle, and Joe don’t really give away any spoilers in their rushed breakdown of Space Jam 2. However, they tease the story via quick snippets that could almost serve as a TV Guide synopsis. James is seen saying,

“I play the craziest basketball game that anyone has ever seen before, and I get help from some very animated friends.”

If fans want to see what really goes down when James assembles his own team of Looney Tunes for the craziest basketball game anyone has ever seen, they will have to wait until Space Jam 2 arrives in theaters.

About Space Jam: A New Legacy (Space Jam 2)

Space Jam: A New Legacy (also known as Space Jam 2) is an upcoming American live-action/animated sports comedy film directed by Malcolm D. Lee, from a screenplay by Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Keenan Coogler, and Terence Nance.

The film is a sequel to Space Jam (1996) and stars basketball player LeBron James, as well as Don Cheadle, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Cedric Joe. The film also features the Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian, Pepé Le Pew, Tweety, Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig, and Lola Bunny.

Like the previous hybrid films, it will be a combination of live-action and traditional hand drawn 2D animation with some CGI effects

Basketball champion and global icon LeBron James and his young son Dom (Cedric Joe) – who dreams of being a video game developer rather than follow his father’s footsteps – find themselves trapped in Serververse, a virtual space ruled by a rogue A.I. named Al-G Rhythm (Don Cheadle).

LeBron must save his son and get them home safe by leading Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to win a basketball match against Al-G’s digitized champions on the court, the Goon Squad.
