Saw 10 Confirmed: Lionsgate Moves Forward with Development

Lionsgate just confirmed that they are teaming up with Twisted Pictures for Saw 10, announcing the upcoming film is in development, releasing on 27th October 2023, setting it up as a perfect Halloween weekend watch.

The Saw film franchise is one of the longest-running horror film series, with its first film in 2004 and the latest a spinoff in 2021. Following the success of the two latest additions, Twisted Pictures, the OG producers, are moving forward with the tenth installment of the franchise.

Josh Stolberg already teased a few updates about the film’s development when it was first announced that the tenth movie is definitely in the cards. Stolberg had last stated that the upcoming film, his third writing venture in the franchise, is definitely his best work, and he is confident it will win hearts.

Lionsgate has officially started work on the film with Kevin Greutert, who gave the Saw franchise both – its second-best film, Saw VI, and the worst, Saw 3D. The news was coupled with a release date for 27th October 2023.

The film’s continuation to the original story and timeline has not been confirmed, so we are not sure if that is the route the upcoming movie will take or if it will be Chris Rock’s spinoff that the 2023 film will dive into.

The film’s producers have teased that the film will give fans “what they’ve been asking for,” and this coming after Stolberg’s tease about the film appeasing Jigsaw fans, we can assume that the film will see the return of one of the more famous characters of the franchise, Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw.

Fans can expect more updates since cast additions and shooting will begin in the coming months. But whether Kevin Greutert will give the franchise’s fans another hit or fail can only be decided come October 2023.

About Saw

Saw is a splatter film franchise created by Australian filmmakers James Wan and Leigh Whannell. It consists of nine feature films and additional media. The first eight films primarily revolve around serial killer John Kramer, also called the “Jigsaw Killer” or simply “Jigsaw.”

Rather than killing his victims outright, Kramer traps them in situations that he calls “tests” or “games” to test their will to live through physical or psychological torture and believes that if they survive, they will be “rehabilitated.”

A tenth film has been announced by Lionsgate, releasing on 27 October 2023.
