Loki Writer Hints at Unexpected Cameos from Marvel Characters

Loki creator and head writer Michael Waldron has teased the upcoming Marvel show could feature some unexpected cameos. Tom Hiddleston is making his return to play the God of Mischief. The show’s events will continue after Avengers: Endgame, which set up an alternate timeline allowing Thor’s notorious brother to escape from being captured by the Avengers in 2012.

Now in a recent interview with Digital Spy, Waldron revealed that there might be some surprise cameos from Marvel characters in the Disney+ show. Approaching its June 9 release Waldron is in full swing of promotions before the pilot episode drops on the streaming service.

When questioned about what cameos audiences can expect, he said,

If they were within the rights, and legal could clear it, there was no reason we couldn’t try and chase them down.

The news outlet pressed for a more specific response about the identities of the cameo characters, to which Waldron teased fans should

expect the unexpected.

Thanks to its setting, Loki is specially situated to include any Marvel character Waldron might want to add. Since the show will introduce the multiverse properly, it is bound to explore many alternate timelines, which further enforces the return of many other characters from previous MCU projects.

Although newcomers Mobius and Ravonna Renslayer will play major roles besides Hiddleston’s Loki, the show’s marketing has teased possible appearances of Grandmaster, Heimdall, Lady Loki, Thor, and even Mephisto. There are also rumors about Enchantress, Lady Sif, Squadron Supreme, and many others set to make a comeback on Loki’s brand-new adventures.

With the show’s release getting closer, fans will shortly get to see which of their favorite Marvel characters get to make an appearance and how. However, considering Loki’s timeline setting, the show is likely to feature different versions of the characters, much like Loki’s different variants teased in the trailers.
