Marvel Debuts New Teaser for ‘Loki’ after Pushing up Release Date

Marvel has revealed a new teaser trailer for its upcoming show Loki along with an updated release date. The series, which is the third television show to follow in the franchise’s Phase Four, will follow the titular character travel through time to stop a great threat.

Yesterday, Marvel Entertainment dropped a new teaser as part of the show’s promotions, which revealed that Loki would premiere on June 9 on Disney+, two days ahead of its initial release.

It also came along with the announcement that episodes will be released every Wednesday.

The clip which opens as a “special look,” offers new glimpses from the upcoming show, with Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) opining that perhaps Loki wants to change.

However, Ravonna Lexus Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha Raw) seems to think otherwise and sees Loki as “insubordinate, stubborn, and unpredictable.” Check out the teaser here:

Meanwhile, Loki can be seen being his sassy self as he steps up to partake in his usual notoriety. But, the highlight of the teaser is when the character quotes a line previously heard in 2012’s The Avengers: “I am Loki. And I am burdened with glorious purpose.”

However, there is no way of determining whether this Loki is the “main variant” or a different one. But, if he is truly attempting to fix the broken timeline, then Loki may very well come across multiple variants of himself.

Taking place after the events of Endgame, Marvel Studios’ Loki will see the God of Mischief’s return as he is enlisted by the Time Variance Authority to fix the timeline he broke by stealing the Tesseract in the movie.

Following the trailer from April, the upcoming show will also introduce many new characters, including Wilson’s Mobius, Mbatha Raw’s Judge Renslayer, and actors Sasha Lane and Richard E. Grant set to appear in yet undisclosed roles.

The first season of Loki will consist of six episodes. A second season is already in development, with Tom Hiddleston set to reprise his role as the iconic Marvel anti-hero.
