Gugu Mbatha-Raw Teases Ravona’s Story in Loki Season 2

Loki season 1-star Gugu Mbatha-Raw revealed the way forward for her character Ravonna Renslayer in season 2 of Loki.

Loki is the only MCU live-action movie renewed for a second season. Scheduled to release next summer, it will take the storyline forward and will build upon the multiverse plotline of the MCU Phase 4.

Season 1 ended with the death of He Who Remains in the hands of Loki’s variant Sylvie. As a result, the multiverse was split open, with Loki stranded in a TVA he didn’t recognize.

By the end of season 1, the TVA judge Ravonna Renslayer was revealed as a variant, just like everyone else.

Speaking with ET Online, Ravonna talked about the excitement of playing a lead character in Loki season 2. She teased that season two would be much bolder and more dopamine-inducing than season 1.

As for her character, she remarked:

In Loki, Ravonna is a powerful presence… selfishly, Renslayer makes it out of the TVA, which I’m really excited about.

She also talked about the experience of walking into the sets of Loki, commenting on the fact that everyone recognizes her the moment she enters:

The thing that I found with Loki‘s second season is everyone on the crew knows your character and I’ve never had that before, stepping onto a set where people already know your character. That’s kind of a cool feeling.

In season 1, Renslayer played a vital role as the judge of the TVA amid the constant back and forth surrounding Loki and Sylvie to uncover the organization’s secrets. However, she often swayed from one side to the other and was cast away as a peripheral identity.

Hopefully, season 2 will highlight the importance of this character in the grand scheme of things. Moreover, Mayors will likely return to play Kang.

It is expected that Renslayer’s strong ties with Kang will be of paramount importance in the plot of season 2.

Mbatha-Raw’s tease about Renslayer becoming bolder and getting out of the TVA might suggest that she will be investigating the organization herself. Or she could continue the cat-and-mouse chase with Loki and Sylvie as she has always done.

Like always, the MCU has kept everything about Loki’s plot tightly wrapped. All we know is that canon characters like Hiddleston, Mbatha-Raw, Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Wunmi Mosaku will return for the sequel.

Also, season 2 will bring some new actors into the mix, like the Everything Everywhere All At Once breakout Ke Huy Quan and Kate Dickie.

Based on a limited set of photos and videos, we predict that season 2 will find the titular anti-hero returning to poke his nose into the events of multiple timelines and universes.

The finale of season 1 ended with Mobius forgetting who Loki is. So, the initial moments of season 2 will focus on Loki trying to get his memory back.

Until then, viewers can wait for the release of the next MCU installment, Antman and the Wasp: Quantamania. With Kang’s debut in that movie, it will likely lay the foundation for Loki Season 2.
