The Official Trailer for ‘Loki’ Is Here and It Is Glorious

Marvel Studios finally dropped the official trailer for Loki yesterday. Following the teaser from December of last year, the trailer provides a better and detailed look at the upcoming Phase 4 show. It is scheduled for release in June 2021.

The new footage focuses on Loki’s association with the Time Variance Authority after they hire him to fix the timeline that he broke by stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame. The TVA, which protects the flow of time, also enlists different variants of the notorious character, and thus, we might see multiple versions of Loki throughout the show.

The trailer’s highlight is definitely the humorous repartee between Loki and Time Variance Authority agent Mobius M. Mobius. Played by newcomer Owen Wilson, the trailer hints at the two joining hands to fix the broken timeline.

However, Mobius also carefully reminds Loki that he refuses to trust him because of his cunning nature. Even though he notes how Loki has stabbed people in the back “like fifty times,” it is unlikely that he will not become a victim of Loki’s betrayal.

The trailer also looks into Loki traveling through various timelines, which all seem to be very interesting. One of them shows him on the throne of Asgard, possibly as King. In another, he is shown sitting beside a woman resembling Natasha Romanoff in a setting similar to Vormir, where she died. However, many fans have theorized it is not the deceased Black Widow but Lady Loki (Sophia Di Martino).

Furthermore, it provides an extended look into the story and cast of the upcoming series. Gugu Mbatha Raw, who plays TVA judge Ravonna Lexus Renslayer is given more screentime than in the previously released extended clip. Another featured member is Sasha Lane’s undisclosed character in full body armor fighting a man in an outfit alike to hers.

Loki, who made his first appearance in 2011’s Thor, has become a fan favorite ever since. Portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, the character has played the roles of both a villain and an anti-hero.

However, after his death at Thanos’s hands in Avengers: Infinity War, fans had expected his time to have come to an end. But now, with his return in a standalone show of his own, Loki’s future is yet to be determined.
