Just two days after the first one dropped, another teaser showcasing some of the Eternals’ powers is here and it shows Thena using her powers to hand Phastos’ son an orange.
The clip also sees Ikaris shooting his usual Superman-like laser beams, Phastos throwing globe-like weapons, Thena conjuring her spear and shield, Gilgamesh using his glowing fists to punch a Deviant, Kingo blasting the enemies up, Makkari using super speed, and Sersi turning burning debris into tiny birds.
All of the Eternals possess superhuman strength, telepathy, flight, teleportation, illusion-casting, transmutation, and the generation of energies like force, heat, light, and other electromagnetic radiation from their bodies. However, some of them also alter their powers to focus on and enhance a specific one.
According to the comics, ‘The Eternals’ bodily cells contain cosmic energy, and they maintain constant mental control over every molecule of their bodies. Eternals are virtually immortal, and can be restored to life even if the molecules of their bodies are scattered.’
The Prime Eternal, the group’s leader, can generate blue flame that merges the Eternals into the Uni-Mind, which embodies their collective power and requires a minimum of seven Eternals to succeed.
The title is obtained either by heirdom or by combat in the Hall of Eternal Judgment. However, Thena and Ikaris have both been the Prime Eternals in the comics, so will we get a potential fight between the two?
Some rumors and leaks have also suggested that Ikaris kills Ajak over a disagreement about saving humans and flies up to the sun. So that might cause some fights among the heroes before they take on the big bad.
After all, what’s a good plot without a bit of inner conflict in a group before they put aside their differences to reunite and save the day. (This is wishful thinking on my part, as the second teaser is literally titled ‘Team.’)
Interestingly enough, Ajak, who is supposed to be the leader of the group, was nowhere to be seen in the teaser.
Earlier this week the updated official synopsis confirmed that the film will take place across two different timelines. Its main storyline will take place post-Endgame, when Hulk’s snap that brought half the population back, started something called the ‘Divergence.’
Eternals is set for a theatrical release on November 5, 2021.
