Loki Is A ‘Cosmic Mistake’ In New Disney+ Series Teaser

Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ Loki will begin its six-episode run on June 9, 2021, dropping a new episode every Wednesday. Most of the teasers for the upcoming series have focused on the interactions between Loki and Agent Mobius.

In the latest teaser for the new series, Agent Mobius asks, “What makes Loki tick?” This sort of acts like a pun playing into the show’s time-travel theme. But the phrase ‘to make someone tick’ means to make someone behave a certain way.

And as seen in Loki’s previous trailers and teasers, the Time Variance Authority has a one-up on the trickster god and want his help to fix all the broken pieces of the timeline that he messed up while on the run with the Tesseract.

The teaser shows Loki traversing through the timeline, causing mischief, and donning his famous horned helmet. Hunter B-15 calls Loki a ‘Cosmic mistake.

But before you feel bad for the God of Mischief, keep in mind that this is a version of Loki who hasn’t yet had his redemption arc before being killed by Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

This variance of Loki is still a self-absorbed, back-stabbing, havoc-wrecking, carefree lad who has ambitions of ruling some world or the other. Still, it’s quite difficult to despise the character of Loki as he’s easily one of the most likable anti-heroes.

Loki’s wrestles with good and bad only make him more complex. He’s multi-dimensional, revealing and hiding different aspects of himself. This makes him relatable.

In an interview with Empire, Tom Hiddleston teased that there is a lot that viewers could learn about the upcoming series by taking a close look at the series logo.

“The font of how Loki is spelled out seems to keep changing shape. Loki is the quintessential shapeshifter. His mercurial nature is that you don’t know whether, across the MCU, he’s a hero or a villain or an anti-hero. You don’t know whether you can trust him.

He literally and physically changes shape into an Asgardian guard or into Captain America repeatedly. Thor talks about how he could change into a snake.

I think that shapeshifting logo might give you an idea that Loki, the show, is about identity and about integrating the disparate fragments of the many selves that he can be, and perhaps the many selves that we are.

I thought it was very exciting because I’ve always found Loki a very complex construct. Who is this character who can wear so many masks, and changes shape, and seems to change his external feeling on a sixpence?”

Loki’s character development is one of the most intriguing aspects of the series. We might get a deeper look into understanding a being who always seems conflicted and at war with himself.

The TVA sees everything, so fans might get to see what Loki really is like behind all those tricks and mischiefs.
