Marvel Studios Searching Writers for MCU ‘Fantastic Four’ Movie

A surprise announcement was made by Kevin Feige near the end of 2020, officially confirming that work on the MCU’s Fantastic Four is in progress. He disclosed that Jon Watts (the director behind the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy) is attached to steer the movie. Since Watts is presently working on Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 ahead of a December 2021 release, it will still be a few years before Fantastic Four comes out.

Marvel Studios lately employed Stacy Osei-Kuffour to pen Mahershala Ali’s Blade, and according to reports, this process took six months. Marvel will undoubtedly take their time locating the right writer for Fantastic Four, so it might not be until later this year that a writer is confirmed. However, there is no rush to decide either, as the movie does not have a release date yet.

Fantastic Four‘s expected sci-fi/comedy strategy and the high-profile character of this MCU reboot will bring in many pitches. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers have evolved as some of Marvel’s most trusted writers with their work on the Spider-Man trilogy and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

This could also prove to be a new endeavor for Captain Marvel and Black Widow writer Jac Schaeffer to undertake after her excellent work on WandaVision.

Jennifer Lawrence

Earlier this evening, a significant rumor hit the interwebs, claiming that Academy Award-winner Jennifer Lawrence had been cast in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four. Word also said that she was set to reach Australia next month to begin shooting. Lawrence is fresh off shooting for Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up and isn’t believed to begin filming either Mob Girl or Bad Blood anytime soon, so she does have a vacancy in her calendar at the moment.

Nevertheless, she is still playing a member of Marvel’s First Family. There is a possibility that Marvel Studios might be filming a secret post-credits tag, which is currently the most suitable judgment.

Over the last decade, the accomplishments of the MCU movie have come through, despite Marvel Studios not having access to some of its most popular comic characters. Fox governed X-Men and Fantastic Four, but that changed lately once Disney adopted the studio. This ultimately gave Marvel Studios access to mutants and Marvel’s First Family, and it is the latter that will get a full MCU reboot foremost.
