Adult-animation Series MODOK canceled after One Season

Marvel has pulled the plug on its adult-animation series, M.O.D.O.K, aka MODOK, reported Variety.

The offbeat stop-motion series has become a victim of what multiple reports call Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios taking over Marvel Television.

It’s not that the gigantic head supervillain MODOK did not appeal to the audiences.

The series, created by Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum, sits at an 88% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series was voiced by Melissa Fumero, Aimee Garcia, and Wendi McLendon-Covey, among others.

With MODOK scrapped from Hulu, the streaming platform only has Hit-Monkey as a Marvel animation series now.

Other animation series, namely Howard the Duck, and Tigra and Dizzler, were canceled before they were even aired.

The stop-motion supervillain had one season with ten episodes in May 2021. It ended on a cliffhanger which had fans curious and excited for a new season. However, there was no news about a renewal for over a year.

The only Marvel animated series on Hulu, Hit-Monkey, is going through a similar situation. The show released its 10-part season 1 in November last year, and there still hasn’t been a word on it yet.

According to the same report by Variety, Hit-Monkey is expected to get axed, too.

As per reports, Feige’s takeover of Marvel’s television projects seems only to create shows that fit the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Any show that is quirky but does not contribute to the MCU and is in an altogether different story and universe seems to get axed, no matter the audience and critics’ reaction.

M.O.D.O.K, an abbreviation of Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, is a titular supervillain who tries to balance his work and family.

Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger with a time theory loop that made it all the more grueling for fans to know if MODOK could have it all.

Unfortunately, the answer to that now remains a mystery.
