The Matrix: Resurrections Final Trailer Reveals How Trinity Is Alive

“Maybe this isn’t the story we think it is,” teases the latest trailer of The Matrix: Resurrections. Along with Neo’s new powers and a few other crucial snippets, we also discover how and why Trinity is alive!

To start with, the nostalgic trailer is ripe with callbacks to the original trilogy. I punched my hand victoriously in the air, when Neo said, “I still know Kung fu.”

It has also vaguely confirmed that Jonathan Groff will be the new version of Agent Smith. There are many allusions to this, including Groff’s mouth being sealed shut and him calling Neo “Mr. Anderson” in the way that Smith used to.

Fans had already deduced this possibility. So, something tells me there has to be another twist to Groff’s character since the movie wouldn’t give out such a big character scoop right away!

Another big reveal is about how Trinity is alive after the events of the trilogy. It’s all thanks to the glowing red life pod that she is encased in. Towards the trailer’s ending, she also narrates how she has seen these events in her dream, and the moment she’s at right now is where it all ends for her.

As much as Resurrections will depict the war between machines and humans, it will also be about Neo fighting to save Trinity.

It is also speculated that this time around, Neo and Trinity may share the title of “The One,” bearing the role of the savior in equal parts.

We also see a scene with an aged-up Niobe, who is most likely living in the real world, that is Zion. Priyanka Chopra Jonas (believed to be playing Sati) prophesizes that the most important choice in Neo’s life is not his to make.

Fans also speculate that the movie will do a callback to Cypher’s idea of sending someone back to the Matrix as an “actor.” That would mean, the machines convincing Neo that everything he witnessed was just a film he was starring in.

The disillusion would subdue him from rebelling against the machines once again—which is why we see him in therapy and unable to remember memories.

But as the trailer points out, there are just too many glitches in the current Matrix itself, like the time loops and instances of déjà vu.

This will prompt Neo into noticing something amiss in his world. Of course, we also have Morpheus bringing in the red pill to open his eyes for good.
