‘Masters of the Universe’ Action Figures to Feature Aged-up Evil-Lyn

Mattel has released the first promotional images for its upcoming Masters of the Universe action figures. One of them features an aged-up Evil-Lyn based on the version of the character set to appear in Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

After the director teased the imminent release of the official images and trailer, it became clear to fans that promotions for the show were about to begin. Now, Mattel has released the first look at its upcoming line of action figures ahead of Revelation’s July 23 premiere, and among them is an aged-up Evil-Lyn.

The collection also includes indiscernible older versions of Skeletor and He-Man as well as the franchise’s core characters Moss-Man, and He-Man’s muscular former house pet, Battle Cat. In total, the line consists of six action figures and will be available to purchase on June 15.

Each of them is made with 30 points or more of articulation, which guarantees a greater range of motion, and they also come fully equipped with accessories from the series.

Along with the other characters in the collection, Evil-Lyn seems older than usual compared to her last appearance in the main plotline, but only slightly. The figure’s white hair is not a marker of her old age but rather a physical trait that has remained consistent with past renditions of her character.

Smith’s series will pick up from where the 1983 version left off and aims to tie up many loose ends that fans still remain bitter about. The pilot episode will resemble its predecessor, but a yet-unspecified “cataclysmic event” is said to change the rest of the show’s narrative.

Lena Headey has been perfectly cast to play Evil-Lyn and will be joined by Chris Wood as He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, and Justin Long as Roboto. Being a fan himself, Smith’s sequel should serve as a nostalgic installment, especially to other fans of the He-Man franchise.

Furthermore, the timing of the action figurines’ debut could not have been better, thus complementing the show so that previous audiences too can relive the experience. The pitch for Revelation also seems promising as it’ll wrap up unfinished plotlines and shed light on many unanswered questions from the original series while simultaneously exploring the characters on a deeper level.

Evil-Lyn perhaps is the most compelling of them all, considering her dedication to Skeletor as his underling and also being open about her ambition to overthrow him. But what lies ahead for her in Smith’s sequel remains to be seen.
